chiidren has begun. Thd,: first
session wa.s Tfiesday morning in
the basement of Victoria Street
Betty Reid was telling me
that the children involved are
not only the retarded young.sters
—district but also the perfectly
normal pre-schoolers who are
their brothers and sisters. As
Betty explains, mother doesn't
get mu,ch of a day out if she is
left to care for another
pre-schooler while her mentally
handicapped youngster is away
her , pre -School children are
tended by the volunteers.
I'm very proud of the wornen
of Goderich and area who have
rallied round to give Mrs. Reid
and the Association their help in
this project. My only hope now
that many of the, women 'of
Goderich will rise to the
challenge .at „ the „, local
Association:level:. .7; and getout
to some Meetings, just, to lend
support if nothing else. •

learn that some members of the
IODE plan to be fairly regular
attenders at the meetings of
GoderIch Town Council.
You. know my thoughts on
that, I suppose. I think every
wanan ins Goderich should make
it her personal business 'to get
doWnlo the council chambers at
least once each year to sit in on
a session of town council. It
would let the Mayor, the Reeve,
the Depty-Reeve and the
Councillors know that you , are
inter'ested in their efforts on the
enlighten everyone to the
working, of town councli here
