County budget

N°. Clerk -Treasurer John . Berry
ews
' announced this week: that. the
• County'.s tOtal" budget this year
will be $3,909,050.
Twenty-five Total estimated surplus for
members of the Kingsbridge
Youth Club, had an enjoyable
afternoon in • the school on
Sunday. Murray Morrison, a
tucknow native, delivered a well
explained talk on `Canadian
Crossroads In ternationar.L,
project. He emphasized the
point that this .is avoluntary
organization, whichN:Trecruits
young people from Canada to go,
to ' other countries such as
Africa, the. West Indies and
India. Morrison said that this
organization is an experiment in
communication, including the
Agricultural field. He will be
leaving for India in June.
•
1971 will be $217,788. Last
year's surplus was , about
$237,000, Coiiincil has taken
.$20,00a from the fund said
Berry, and applied it a) this
year's budget in order to "keep
requirements from the rocal
municipalities about the same as
last year."
The municipalities will' be
,required to pay $1,507,986, to
-the county treasury this year.
Each 'municipality will pay an
apportionment of the toal
amount Co be • collected,
according to new regulations.
Total road budget, said Berry,
is $1,564,000 for'this year.
Questions were asked and,
particularly one question , was
put to him. "Why did he want to
'go to India?" He answered 'that
he would like to experience the
'way of living in this country,.
especially the poverty that,exists
and try to help by his
experience:"
Nancy O'Keefe, on hehalf of
the Youth Club, presented a,
cheque to ' Morrison as a
c.,,ontribution for his worthwhile
'project, '‘vishing him great
success.
A Social 'Hour. followed
where the young people shared
- playing -indoor gaines, volley
ball, ping peMg and listening to
'records. This sharing reminded
me of ..what I read once of a
youth who expressed , his
practical outlook this way: "1
reali?,e that' we must 1o, more
more,
,than talk, and write in vague
generalities. It is necessary that
we do. more -to show that we are
capable of doing something to
