ON THE GENERAL SCENE:
There certainly appears to be no

going on: You've probably heard
it a million times but we're going
to repeat it once more. This is
your newspaper, and we do need
your help to, keep it at a good
informative level. So regardless
of the importance of your
meeting or game; give us a buzz
at 524-8331 and we'll do our
best, to cover it for you.
ON THE SOFTBALL
'.SCENE:' League prez Reg Jewell

Organizational meeting of the
year going, so industrial ball isn't
too far away.
ON THE BASEBALL
.GENE: We understand there
itSPF too d •{much activity
baseball -wise insofar as the,
senior group is concerned here,
but we have been told there is a
pretty good minor set-up.
Somehow it's rather difficult to
believe that a town with a good,
minor set-up isn't blessed with a
strong senior club., •-.
And who could possibly.
believe, especially after that
brief snow storm Ve faced on
Friday, that the major leagues
are going at it? Action' started
Monday and } by the timeyou
read this, all National and
American League- teams will
have had their first game of the
162 -game season.
We'll 'probably doom both
teams, but we'll have to go along
with Baltimdre's coming back bit

the • Dodgers copping the
National League pennant. So

gullible enough to believe they

That would be about as stupid as
cheering for the Toronto Maple
Leafs of hockey fame.

ON. THE HARNESS
RACING SCENE: Rumors were
flying around (before we came
'up to -Goderich) that both Owen
Sound and Goderich would not
see harness racing again this
year. It is obviously a bunch of
bunk insofar as Goderich is '
'concerned because the boys are
really, getting ready for the
summer meet. Owen Sound,
who has to have the worse track '
of any ,45, C or ,e\en D racing
circuit could possibly 'fold' their
oval • up, . but this is only
guesswork,' We never did like'
that track and unless they spend
a few dollars they aren't going to
get the p. trons out. And let's
face it, th ; spectators` are the
ones who hush the greenbacks
through the ari-mutuels. ,
