,Dear Signal Star: '•
We hear a lot about socialism
today.`
Not long ago I read ,,a book
from Clinton Secondary School
011 Economics. 'There was one
chapter on Socialism.
It told the story of the Pilgrim
Fathers and how they were given.
a plol'of ground for each family
'o.., grow food. The were
allowed " to keep some for
themselves and must turn the
rest oyer to the government. But
the colony did not grow enough ,
food for their, own needs over
winter.
So they changed their system.
The government collected a tax
and allowed them to keep the
resfor themselves. The response
was immediate. Whole families.
got up early^in the morning and
worked and planted .their fields
and grew enough for themselves
and some left over
•;If socialism won't ,wort:

•
Some attention was given by
Goderich Town Council last
Thursday evening to the matter -
of bus service out of the town.
Councillor .eg. Jewell
suggested that a letter be sent to
the commercial - bus company

daily to determine -whether or
not -the bus is required to circle
the Square before leaving -town.
