This is a new venture for me but 1 hope these weekly comments
will be of interest to our many race fans.
Our annual banquet was,a real success. Some .180, sat down, to
dinner and clawed to the ' fine music of Bobby Downs and his
Orchestra. Many thanks to Gordon Bedard, Harold Young and
Chairman Dr. Bert .Such fora job well done.
Newly 'appointed Raeeway Manager, Bruce Erskine outlined
many improvements hoped to be completed before opening night,
Tuesday, June 29. We will also race one.. Saturday night and 11
Wednesday nights closing on'°Sept. 15. ' .
Again Ted: Williams will be mutual manager and for the first time
we will operate with the popular mutual machines.
The 'Association has entered into an -agreement with our
neighbors' in Clinton to rent their machines. , We are sure this will
increase our handle and give much better an4 less confusing service
to the betting public. Also this will let us have exactorletting and
will eliminate the often low pay off quinella wager.
It was announced this week that Don Edward will return as
Raceway Secretary 'after a year's absence., Don ,will also Cook .after
'the program and with his flair for journalism we can expect many
new editorial comments,
That's all for this week but III start a tour of the barn to keep
you. ---informed Pon all -the local speedste r - - -'
