There was nothing to do --.but stay holed -in all night.
, Most took it quite calmly,
Some wh•i npered, some cried.
They soon were controlled, —
They all, have their pride.
Along came Sir .Galahad
,In.skidoosuit of Blue.
'Now if" there are things you need,
I'll get them for you.'
So off to Carlow went Don and Laverne,
"While we nervously waited .
Their welcome return.
Hurrah fo,r the tractor.
With 'ab overbuilt.
They soon hurried in, boxes full to the hilt. ,
Soup, beans, cheese and cookies,
Jam, butter and bread:
It -didn't take long
Till all were' well fed.
Well, maybe a few corners
Still were left bare.
But we could be grateful,
It 'was so warm in there,
We were all bedded down
No, we didn't mind:-
Just one big, happy family
-- Everyone was so kind.
The wind was"still hdwling,
The snow it still came.

.Was the name of the game. ,
Mrs, Dustow got busy,
She called her fine kin.
Skidoos to the rescue,
What a godsend they've been;
,More and more food arrived,
Boy that was just great.
Now pupil's and teachers,
Just sat there and ate.
By late afternoon,
The word got around,
No, snowplows in sight,
We'd remainsafe and sound.
Another night stranded, .,
No mum and no dad, '
We have to remember
'Last night wasn't bad.
Supper, Some games, a memory to Reep.
Hot chocolate and cookies
To -put -all to sleep.'
' A night uneventful, some -coughing to quell.
If we get home tomorrow — won't that be swell:
Morning again — no let up as yet.
One bus came and went - they were happy you bet.
Some chiklren.had left; less pupils toped, -
Foodshares would be larger; a bright.spot indeed.
.M,r,, Treble came twice, carrying much milk with him.
Two cups each that day, full right to°,the brim.
Next.morning we found the storm had subsided.
Homeward bound we would be —if the School Board decided.
Now beds witl be.,soft,
Lights will creep in the door.
But we'll never forget
Those three nights on the floor.

Sad to say it happened again,

They brought food and blankets
