''Goderich WI held last. Thursday
in St. George'ssChurch.
It was quite a well-run ,event
• with the •president, Mrs. W. M.
Porter, keeping everything in
order aud on schedule.
- , _ •There were o`'ily two 'men
present, I' believe. ' They were,
Rev. Garwood Russell of St.
George's Parish and Mayor Harry
Worsell.
Mr. Russell told a little
"jolly" about the young fellow
who"' asked his father what 'a
youthful figure"was. The father
told his son thaCit was what you
got when you asked a woman
her age.
Aid after the chuckling had
subsided, Mr. Russell told the
•ladies that although they`,
admitted to 70 years they a
certainly didn't look their age!
That - put Mr. Russell in -solid,
with the, WI members and their.
guests.

The speaker, at the event was
1V1rs. aA'•ustin ' , Zoeller, the
president of Federated Women's
Institutes of -Ontario. Mrs.
Zoellet' lives in New Hamburg
near Kitchener:
There is little doubt 'ip my
t.nind that Mrs. Zoeller is a
'devoted WI member or, that
.she is filled 'withthe .necessary
ability to 'fire up' other women.
Her speech was, from beginning
to end, an iiuspirat'ion to WI
.members to keep going, keep
working.and get moving. •
Of all,,the things which Mrs.
Zoeller mentioned, one
particular part of -her 'message
stuck with me. She said 'that
admirable job of representing'
the town. He thanked the WI for
its' centit ued interest ip the
welfare of the, community and
distributed brochures about -the

some ' people_ make things
happen, some people' let' things
happen and some people just
wonder what did happen.
True enough isn't it? That's
why every community should
appreciate its doers - its citizens
who make things happen. Thank
goodness. Goderich-has its share
