Kingsbridge news
Altar boys honoured is Kingsbridge
w °BYJOE VAN ROOY
The Parish of Ashfield has
recorded another event ih its
history. On Christmas Day, 15
new red garments were Used for
the first time by - the Altar
servers, during the Midnight
Mass.. .
On w anday, December 27
religious and . social functions
were' conducted for 60 Altar
Servers from St. Joseph's,
,Kingsbridge; St. Augustine's, St.
Augustine and St. Mary's,
Lucknow. A Bible Service
concluded by a • Solemn,
Benediction was the first part of
this reunion. A social function
was held afterwards at the Parish
Hall.
Paul Dalton opened the social
with a word of welcome to his
brother servers. Carols were
sung., Mark Frayne, Henry Van
Rooyand Tom O'Keefe read
three poems related to the duty
of the Knights Of -'the Altar,
while Paul Doherty reminded
the boys of' thein duties, by
reading the Altar Servers' Code.
"To • serve at the -Altar,
reverently, intelligently and
punctually" was Father
Cassano's topic addressed to the
boys.'
Awards were given to the
boys present. Twelve of the past
servers were given a souvenir, to
remind them, that once, they
were also privileged to serve at
the Altar. An old, but familiar
face was present and received his
reward, Mark Chisholm, who
served priests in St. Mary's,
Lucknow, before the family
moved to Goderich. Glen Tigert
said few words on behalf of the
past servers, encouraging the
present boys to serve worthily
. the Altar by their ^ regular
attendance. A note of 'interest -
these past servers are still helping
our priests, as commentators or
readers on Sunday.
The second group consisting
of 12 boys called senior servers
were presented with awards.
Shawn Dalton thanked Father
and promised ,that they will do
their best, to follow the example
of the past servers.
The third group, known as
the junior servers were also given
their awards for . their regular
attendance. Joe Boyle addressed
a word to thenew servers. to
appreciate . the privilege of
serving at the Altar.
The fourth group was of the
new servers, consisting of 24
boys, 22 of which were present.
These boys started serving for
the first time last October. They
were also given a reward, hoping
that they will also follow the
footsteps of the junior group.
At present there are 24 Altar
Servers in St. Joseph's,
Kingsbridge; 21 in St. Augustine
and three in - St. Mary's,
Lucknow.
Refreshrients were served.
All • present enjoyed ' the
afternoon. Hoping that in the
near future, another reunion will
be organized. Sincere thanks go'
to Father Cassano, who made
such a reunion possible.

Unusual
Christmas "gift
The family of Horace
Crawford, RR 6, Goderich, was
given an unusual and, early
Christmas gift by one of the
family's hens this month.
Nobody knows which hen
was respons`ble, but one of them
laid a four and a half inch long
brown egg, complete with one
yolk and white with another
complete egg inside, shell, yolk
and white too!
Double yolk 'and even triple
yolk eggs, and eggs of large size
are not too uncommon, but two
eggs at a time, with one inside
'the other must be out of the
a ordinary.
The family put the egg on the
candleing machine at first to see
how many yolks it had and
found something obstructing the
view. The end of the egg was
opened and the second egg was
found inside.
