The Goderich Signal-Star, 1970-12-17, Page 214 • me with your faith in mind I This column is dedicated to thbge who want to decorate their homes for the Holidays and don't know where to begin, Regardless of your religion, plan on having a theme on a. table top with the symbols of your crered. This can be a creche or perhaps an open family bible with a -bookmark of red velvet and a candle beside it in a favorite candlestick. A brass candlestick or a pewter one always seems so right for the "honor". Now that we have the most important motif expressed here comes. some' ideas you might find adaptable to your home. Over the mantle you might like to hang a lush large wreath of, greens and in the center secure some children's musical (inexpensive) instruments which you have sprayed white and in the middle of the center grouping have a beautiful velvet bow to complement your room decor. This idea will appeal to the music lovers. Glittering balls hung from a picture window from varied lengths of ribbon add a brilliance which catches light from the inside and looks gay from the outside of the home. For a front door '''you might like to tie some holly and evergreens and from a. gay red bow hanga pair of red mittens which can be used later for snowballing. You can stuff the inside of the mittens to give them more interest. For a family or scout project you might like to make ,a kingsize popcorn ball to tie hung with a fastener injected, during the "manufacturing" and stick suckers in the .king-size ball for • interest. This Would be a good neighbor gift by young ones. The kindergarten chain idea can't be overdone because now we can secure phosphorescent paper and unusual papers to make these chains an asset any place in the home. This is a good project for all ages and here you have a holiday detail which can be used for many years if packed away later with care. Many people have homes with the modern decor and they 001)grpOn SiONAle-BTAItt TOJUDAY; MOM Little hook 1)19 boon will welcome selecting a large evergreen branch which can be' decorated with balls. Don't forget some of these large plastic waste- paper baskets are your best friend to hold a branch in the right position when it is surrounded with fist size stones. If you are an African violet fancier you will receive raves by. placing an African violet in a large' . brandy snifter and surrounding it with small bails to match the color of the flowers. For a special occasion you can use tall glasses and tape small cones and evergreen on the glasses to give glamour to the table. And here is an "oldeY." Take a loaf of french bread and insert small evergreen boughs in the, bread. The needles won't drop due to the moisture within the bread and you can decorate as you wish.
