Brussels, March I3. --Charles Mitchell
a well to do farmer ou lot 13, con. 6,
township of Morris, committed suicide
Sunday evening; by cutting histhroat
with a sickle. The act was committed
half way between the house and barn.
About three years ago he showed
symptom of insanity, and was sent to
the asylum, bnt recovered. TIn leaves
a wife and family.

Brockville, Ontario, March 8.—Last
night William Cheetham and wife,
with their daughter, ori returning
home from a social held in St. John's
Church, were horrified on finding their
son sitting upright in a chair with a
revolver in his hand and a bullet hole
through his head and another in his
left side. He had shot himself in their
absence. Deceased had beeu despond
ent for the last year or so. He was a
carriage trimmer by trade, but had
not worked for over a year.

Lady Mowat, wife of the Premier of
Ontario, died ?vlouday at 11.30 o'clock
in Dr. Walker's private hospital on
Isabella street.
On Friday last Lady Mowat was
stricken with paralysis She had been
in very delicate neallh for nearly two
years, but the sudden prostration was
altogether unexpected. The: immed
ate cause of the illness, whieh has ter-
minated fatally, was a clot of blood in
the brain. At intervals her mind was
apparently quite clear, and she recog
nized the friends about her. She was
very low on Sunday, and Monday all
hope of her recovery was abandoned.
At 9 o'clock Monday nignt. It was ap
parent that the end was pear, and her
immediate relatives were summoned to
the bedside. Her end was yery peace-
ful,
