To clarify these and other matters for Ontarians, and provide assistance and guidance when needed, the Ontario Department of Financial' and Comma -dal Affairs has expanded its services in recent years. In all contracts where money is borrowed, or when goods or services are bought on credit, the true rate of interest and service • charges must now be set out clearly in the agreement. This enables - the borrower or purchaser to know. exactly what he is paying for. , It is no longer possible to have hidden charges and unspecified service "extras." The exact amount of payments and the number of payments must 4# be dearly specified. Another important . area of added protection deals with "itinerant sellers, more familiarly known to housewives as door-to-door salesmen. A car -transport accident on Highway 21 in front of Earl Drennans, south of Kingsbridge, sent two people to the Goderich Hospital late Monday afternoon. Tom Finleon, driver of the car and his passenger, ninety-year-old Larry Wallace, were turning into the Drennan gate to vote, when they were bit head on by a transport. They received injuries mostly to their faces. Driver of the transport was uninjured. Operation eyeglass on' at Robertson school The students at Robertson School' are participating in Operation Eyeglass, an appeal to Ontario students to donate old pairs of glasses and frames, which will mean improved vision for thousands of .Caribbean children. Indian children have never had their eyes tested. • Those who will benefit first will be children on Grand Turk Island with a population of 6,000. Grand Turk Island is north of the- Dominican Republic. Reg Johnston, project co-ordinator, says he hopes Operation Eyeglass will be a continuing program. It will extend to other islands and possibly to the adult population. To get • the ball rolling, circulars have been distributed to schools throughout Ontario. Although the scheme is aimed mainly at children, it is open to all interested citizens.
