Auburn WI entertains
horticulturalists at party

canines, Christmas bells and
wreaths decorated .the Auburn
Community Memorial hall last
Friday evening when the
Women's Institute entertained
their families and members of
the Horticultural Society and ,
:their families to the annual
Family night.
President Mrs. Leonard
Archambault .Welcorned
everyone and Pastor Alfred Fry
said the grace. Over 125 sat
down to decorated small tabies.
and helped themselves to the
delicious smorgaSbord dinner.
Following the dinner, Mrs.
Archambault presided for the
program. A sing -song was led by
Oliver Anderson with his
daughter, Miss Nancy Anderson
at the piano.
New people in the
community who were guests
were .welcometti:Lthis district.
Chairman of the Village
Trustee Board, Fred Wagner
.brought greetings and read a
peorn, Our Garden.
Leonard Archarnbault spoke
of the work that the'W.I. and
the Horticultural Society had
done. and , ,brought season's
greetings. -
. Two mouth -organ selections
were played by Ross Robinson
accompanied by Mrs. Robert
Jh illips.
• Mrs. W. Bradnock introduced
the guest speaker of the evening,
'William Gibson who told about,
his 15- month visit to Australia.
He showed very colorful slides
'of that country along with New
Zealand and the Hawaiian
Islands.
Mrs. Ed Daies • thanked Mr.
Gibson for his interesting
pictures and comments.
Pastor A. Fry and Rev. Keith
Stokes both expressed thanks
for the invitation to'attend.
Mrs. Gordon Taylor,
president of the- Horticultural
Society thanked the W.I. for the
invitation. . She also thanked
many for their services and
assistance during the past year to
help beautify the village.
She' stated that Santa and his
reindeer were placed this year on
the lawn of St. Ma 's Anglican
Church.
Mrs. Archambault thanked
everyone for -assisting in the
program and thanked Mrs. Tom
Lawlor for .the beautiful
decorations. She also thanked
Mrs. Robert J. Phillips for being
convener assisted by Mrs.
Kenneth Scott, Mrs. Pearl,
Watson, Mrs. Ena Craig, Mrs.
Rank Raithby and many other
members.
Walkerburn Club sends
cards to shut-ins
The monthly meeting of the Mxs. L. Archambault -was won
Walkerburn Club ,was held at the
home of Mrs. Arie Duizer 'with
the President NIrs. Elliott Lapp
in charge.
The meeting was opened by

taken by Mrs. Henry Hunking.
The minutes were accepted as
read by the secretary, Mrs.
George Schneider. The tre4asurer,
Mrs. Thomas Cunninfiarn gave
the financial statement.

A tuneful operatic version of the children's fairytale, Hansel
and Gretel, will be presented on CBC television during the
Christmai season: Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 8 p.m. A program
for the entire family, with its storybook sets and costumes, and
its beautiful music, Hanel and Gretel stars Judith Forst (left)
and Christine Anton (right) in the title roles, and Maureen
Forrester (centre) as the Witch, seen here outside the ginger-
bread -and -candy house of the Witch.

The eighth meeting of
Holmesville 1, 'RI, -
homemaking clubs was held on
November 16. Members began
judging fust aid kits as they
arrived. Next came the pledge
which was followed by exercises.
Constable Wayne Moulton
gave an interesting talk on, safety
on the highway. He. „also
answered several questions of
the members.
After he left they continued
on with the business, then:, the
discussing of the first aid kits.
Next came the quiz concerning
good citizens.
This is the last meeting for
these gir14.
On Thursday November 19
all members of the clubs and
their leaders held a 'bowling
party at the Clinton Alleys.
Members enjoying trying to
"Win a Pepsi" on the blue pin
strike, who won were
Diane Rodges, Rose Wain, and
Mrs. Sturdy. High scorer was
Marilynne Wise with 198 and
246.
Members would like to take
this opportunity to wish Jan
Ginn, a speedy recovery and to
say she was missed at our party.
Jan also missed our hike and
weiner roast became of a broken
toe. Get well Jan.
