We PrOtised that gach year it should be bigger and better and I honestly feel that it IS — don't you? Special thanks ' to those tuaters • Ewan Ross, Earl Ken Boyce, Wilf Chapman and all their large 'grOup — I haven't all the names but Olive Brindley is still laughing. I guess they had most of the fun, and just shared some of it. with us. Thanks again Folks! I also feel the teachers had tospend so much time and effort with the children to create their entries also deserve a big :vote of thanks. These people who participated, I especially want to know that we appreciate their work and fine floats. Making a fine showing for our town, we are credited with getting other ,small towns on their toes and creating 'more "' and more enjoyment for the young and younger all over the country. Now 'with the beautiful colored lite arrangements appearing all over -the town people are getting the lift they need- to get the "feeling" of Christmas. I believe the lights are the leading factor towards the true .feeling of Christmas — friendliness — helpfulness — and love thy neighbor feelings — whether they live next door or in a faraway country. The. average use ofextra lights is almost sure to NOT add to your hydro bill. We all pay for more than we use so g ahead and brighten up the darkness, ° The' next thing' tol worry about is the Christmas shopping. I am one of those people who think about it all year but when it comes to the time I have forgotten what it was I had thought would be just right for this one and that one. Consequently Christmas eve I am wildly dashing about trying to find that gift I've missed — and Christmas morning when the kids want you up early so they can see their gifts I arn bleary-eyed from the wrapping I had done far, far into the night — and so it goes! This is the. time of the when you: are either in the doldrums with d tag let -down or you are terribly excited and miming around like mad. That's me — running around like mad. I want to do s many things that I don't know ,where to begin.Shopping ' is just hopeless for me — I like looking but hate shopping. So you see I'm having troubles! ' Sunday at the arena with hundreds and hundreds of ,children was, agiin, quite an experience. Just watching the little ones talking to Santa made you feel that the otd world may not be too badly off after all. Some of the children were really excited .but most of them were quite serious and shiny -eyed and it was wonderful to see., I thought the clowns Were a real asset in entertaining the youngsters out on the" ice and everyone enjoyed a few df the local Skating Club who were good enough to do some of their skating for us. Our "Thanks" to all of them. Here •is something interesting put on by the Young People of Knox Church,, this Sunday at 8 p.m. This is the English version of "Christmas in the Market Place" the Nativity story presented by a band of strolling gypsy players which has become one of the most popular of all the Nativity plays. First performed by the Pilgrim Players of Canterbury in '1943, it has been staged twice in the Crypt of St. PAI's Cathedral. It has had thousands of productions, both amateur and professional, in churches, church halLs, theatres, schools, etc., etc. It brings the story of the Nativity alive in all its majesty, and contrasts the simple humours of the gYpsy family with their devout interpretation of the greatest of 'subjects — a story two thousand years old. A well known American writer on the theatre has written of it: "The tone is a superb mixture the secular and the • reverential, _nevertheless it has a contemporary flavour that can only be applauded. So with two people such as • Gail Sully and 'Virginia Lodge supervising, it is sure to be a fine play and you should try to see :it. . Martha' The weekly dance on Monday, was celebrated as usual, in the auditorium • with the Huronview orchestra supplying the music and Jim Barrie calling the dances. • •• It started with a wheelchair waltz, a favourite of those who could not walk, followed by waltzes and two-steps, heel and toe polkas, a rye waltz, French minuet with wheelchair two steps and others mixed in Hokey Pokey 'dance with Jan Byisma couple of tunes on- the violin, also Bert Finlay a Goderich accompanied by. his wife at the ,p,iano played two or three ' dances. Tea and cookies topped it off.' A visitor (of which there are more at every dance) said, "You have the best old time orchestra have ever heard".
