July 1, 1949: AD outstanding
event of the Dominon Day
celebration was the presentation
of an inhalator to the town of
Goderich ' by the Goderich
Kinette club.
The presentation took place
at the bandstand in Court House
Park and was made by Mrs. D. J.
Patterson president of the
Kinettes, { to Mayor George
MacEwan, who highly
complimented the Kinette club
on its splendid gesture.
;e "Goderich is^indeed. fortunate
in becoming possessor of such
equipment; as ,there are few in
use," the mayor said.
While he hoped it would
never be necessary to use it, he
felt that to have it ready for any
emergency was a safeguard and
if it was the means of saving one '..-
life, the club would be amply
recompensed.
The inhalator will be kept at
the police station, and if its is
required, the fire siren will be
sounded.
Purchase of the inhalator was
the project undertaken during
the year by the Kinette club. It
represented an expenditure of
$475.00. .
Mr. Harry Barker has been
appointed operator and others
will be inktructed in Its use.
