Round and About With I
Lit like Christmas tree
Many of the big- lake boats
conning in with grain or to get
salt have their Christmas
decorations lit up and are a, sight
to behold.
If you want to see one of
these big fellows you will have
toy keep •a sharp look -out as they
are in harbour for, such a short
time. . ' -
' week many people were
thrilled at the sightof one huge
ship brilliantly lit up and
shedding thoughts of peace and
friendliness wherever it docked:
I think this is wonderful and
what a nice way to tell others
how you feel.
When I drive down a street
and see the wreaths and mtiny
lights glowing in the night I feel
I am among friends, the places
that are not lit or decorated have
a very unfriendly aura about
them, and nine times out of ten
they ARE people who don't
want to be bothered by
people -for any reason at all. Just
one little friendly light is all it
takes to spread ..the feeling of
love and security and you don't
have to `waste' a lot of money to
-do this:-
I'm
his:I'm going to have one
heck -of -a -time trying to hang
out lights this year. Guess I'll
have to hang some on the
clothes line pole and hope for
the best.
The floats. for Santas parade
are coming along fine. There will
be a meeting (this) Thursday
nite at the Town Hall so if you
wishinformation or help just
pop in and talk to us.
The children get a chance
again this year to talk to a real
live Santa who LOOKS like a
Santa and it's just heart-warming
to see the look' on their faces
and the excitement shining from
their ,eyes. This is on Sunday.
This year the auditorium in the
Arena is, available and will be
ideal for the little and big ones
alike.
There will be public skating
and we hope we can have some
in costume to entertain the kids
before and rafter seeing Santa.
(Come out in costume.)
Santas helpers will have a few
treats for the little ones but,the
bigger kids who "don't fall for
that guff" will miss out. Santa is
"for the "Believers" and there are
no huge bags of candy to toss
around since there is a fine
parade with good .prizes and a
Ho -Ho -Ho for the little guys.
The lake front' looks pretty
bleak .right now but bleak
or not it is a beach -and a mighty
small one at that. It runs from
the harbour t beyond the'Water
works building -and this is the
section referred to as South
The weekly dance was held in
the auditorium, with the
following residents making up
the orchestra, Miss Della Peart
on the piano, Mrs. Mary Taylor
and John Leeming on the mouth
organ, Norman Speir, Miller
Adams and. John Leeming with

morocas and Jim Barrie calling

A wheel -chair waltz started
the dance, followed by waltzes, -
two steps, heel and toe polka,
Rye waltz and French minuet
with wheel chair dances
sprinkled in.
The Hokey-Pokey dance with
Mrs. Jan Bylsma calling off is
fast growing to be a favorite.
Miss Barbara Miller and
Ervine Johnston contributed a
step dance.
The sing song and tea
provided by the C.F.B. ladies
apd Clinton Kinettes .the last
Wednesday of each month was
held in the auditorium on
November 25, 1970. Padre
Youmatoff, led the sing -song

Huronview Orchestra. Tea and
cookies were served to the
.residents by Kinettes, Mary Jean
Beattie, Evelyn Archer, Marg
Fleming, Pat Mann, Barb

England, Ireland and Scotland

Middleton of Triple -A Farms of
their trip overseas along with
some local pictures. The
Huronview Orchestra provided
some lively Irish music following
the slides of Ireland with two
residents Barbara Miller o and
Ervine Johnston doing -an Irish
Jig.
This week's Family Night
program will consist of musical
numbers by Adam Wilson,

in the . Craftroom on Friday
afternoon`. Winners were Mrs.

Beach. This is the section we
hope to save for future
enjoyment. If you vote against
this issue we may lose Our beach
to industry and that would be a
real catastrophe.
Get out on Monday and
VOTE.!
You must vote or • you will
have this town slip back into the
doldrums and all the good work
of the last few years will be
wasted.
Goderich must g ahead -it
must not be a tired or retired
folks town. This is what the
young people have been fighting
the last twenty-five years- is
the retirement of Goderich. We'
need people with enthusiasm
and foresight to keep Goderich
going, paying , its way and
showing books for every penny
spent. We -need people who
know where they are going and
also where they've been! So vote
them in — for goodness sake —
for yours and mine and the
childrens sake — VOTE!'
Free_ -license
for seniors
The resident angling license
was introduced in the Province.
of Ontario in January, 1969.
This license is required by all
male anglers 19 years of age'and.
over and it is an annual license
renewable on January 1st of
each year.
Next year, 1971, all resident
male anglers still will be required
to have . the • angling license.
However, a free license will be
provided for `male residents over
65 years of age. Resident women
are not required to have an
angling license. .The free license
can be obtained after January
1st at Department of Lands and
Forests Division Offices at Owen
Sound, Stratford • and Hespeler
by showing proof oiage.
Daring the two years since
the licensing was introduced the
Department has embarked on a
system of interviewing angling
licensees to survey the activities,
needs and demands of fishermen
and to determine the best use of
our .pjesent resources and the
direction of our future fishing
programs.
Male anglers 65 years of age
and older make up a
considerable portion of the total
number of resident anglers and
can contribute to these surveys.
They will be required to have
the annual license even though it
is available to them free. °

Who ever heard of a homing pigeon that wouldn't go home! Mrs. Bill Gaucher of Bluewater Taxi
Service did, last week. This fat and fancy racer found itself a roost in the cab company office and
stayed the night. It was well fed, watered and warm. It had no inclination to go,home. Who knows,
perhaps it was waiting for a cab! — Staff Photofc
