Before I forget — a mother of
family of boys asked me to
thank th'e . Minor Hockey
•Supporters' glib, for saving her
several dollars in hockey
registration fees. She feels there
are many families who are
grateful that this Cost was kept
down and she wants people to
know this group deserves a pat
on the back for their efforts,
With the selling of tickets,. a
danoa and other fund.ralS' Mg;
this ' group was able to set the
fees at $4 instead of $6; °-
There, you are ,gang — a big
"Thank You!" You can easily
see why the kids want to play
hockey since Goderich has
supplied so many players to the
BIG leagues. • .
Goderich was known to be a
big hockey town — years ago —
and I'm surewith the. fine
"new" arena -- or — renovated —
arena, hockey should become a
top sport again.
While on the -topic of the
arehs,several people have said
they were astounded at the high
cost of rebuilding and — was it
worth it? •
We could have left it for a few
More years --- and we would have
had to tear it down dr pay
much, much more to • have it
repaired. So I don't feel we have
paid toOlinich.
Some people think we don't
really need an arena any more
since we haven't a Jr. 13, team or
Qtohwerbsig nape team to draw the
ad.
Believe it or not, there Were.
times when you wondered ityou
had to have the National Hockey
League here in order to attract
crowds. People were staying
away in droves, mainly because
they , wouldn't sit hi that cold,
uncomfortable place — when
they could,sit all nite in their
living room watching TV.
This is' a sure sign of 0,A„ and
• some people, contract it early..
Well, we can only hope people
will come out now that the
arena has • been so greatly
., improved and there will be
heated areas for you to sit and
watch ' temperature raising
games. Thii also helps to keep
you warm — and permits you to
let off steam, too, But don't
criticize the kids or the
management; scream your head
off and laugh, theft go home
feeling you have a big load off
your chest and you can go to the
office next morning with. a
clean, clear mind. Good therapy!
Another chunk of 'good
therapy' is to visit the Tiger
Dunlop Inn for dinner.-- I know
of no other, place where you can
have a home cooked meal that
tastes like Christmas or
Thanksgiving dinner and have
someone like Gertie Kaitting to
kid you, wait on you hand- and -

or not we will have a beach in a
few years from now. If they let
industry take another foot of
our • already too small beach, we
are sunk. Think about it! Check
up on it, and DO something
about it.
