You can easily see why the kids want to play hockey since Goderich has supplied so many players to the BIG leagues. • . Goderich was known to be a big hockey town — years ago — and I'm surewith the. fine "new" arena -- or — renovated — arena, hockey should become a top sport again. While on the -topic of the arehs, several people have said they were astounded at the high cost of rebuilding and — was it worth it? • We could have left it for a few More years --- and we would have had to tear it down dr pay much, much more to • have it repaired. So I don't feel we have paid toOlinich. Some people think we don't really need an arena any more since we haven't a Jr. 13, team or Qtohwerbsig nape team to draw the ad. Believe it or not, there Were. times when you wondered ityou had to have the National Hockey League here in order to attract crowds. People were staying away in droves, mainly because they , wouldn't sit hi that cold, uncomfortable place — when they could, sit all nite in their living room watching TV. This is' a sure sign of 0,A„ and • some people, contract it early.. Well, we can only hope people will come out now that the arena has • been so greatly ., improved and there will be heated areas for you to sit and watch ' temperature raising games.
