intricate work while lying on his
back .in the old .Christie Street
Hospital in Toronto after the

Since then, andespecially in
the last few years, he has turned
out myriads of beautiful, work
and wilt' have many seat covers
in floral pattern in several shades
on display at the Carlow Fair. *,
The first Country Fair held at
Carlow was in 1871. Farmers
brought their best produce and
their wives vied,each other with
their handwork. , •
These fairs continued until
1894 when an Agricultural
Society was formed in Goderich.
In 1966 the fair was revived
• by a group of craftsmen who put
on a sale of local crafts for
people looking for Christmas
gifts. It was a success and this
year is the fifth sale to be held
which now attracts interested
people from as far away as
Toronto and Michigan.
The object ,,of the Fair is to
promote the work of the local
craftsmen who make 'an
important contribution to our
culture. ,
This year 'Dried Apple
Artistry is one of the main
features at the 'Fair, AK:mg with
the animal *clod carvings of
Stuart Taylor ,of Nile.
A few of the. members of the
Huron County Medical
Secretaries Association were able
to attend the Clinic Day put on
annually by the London Medical
Secretaries held October 3 at the
Victoria Hospital.'‘
The regular monthly meeting
was held at the Clinton Public
Hospital in the cafeteria October
7.
A new member was present,
Mrs. Ann Mitchell of Clinton.
"Nominations *ere held for
the new executive. They will .
take over atter election at our
next meeting. .
Mrs. Gertrude Whaley gave us
an interesting travelogue of her
recent tour throtigh Russia and
other parts of Europe, along
with a display of souvenirs and
pictures.

the Clinton girls.

says modern doctor
The proliferation of so-called
"sex guides", often written by
doctors and psychiatrists,
'damage the man -woman
relationship so badly many are
forced to seek professional help,
charges the Sex Information and
Education Council of Canada
The council set up
committees of experts on hunian
relations, if not on sex itself, to
rate the 14 most sold sex
manuals.
Council executive director Dr.
Stephen Neiger is quoted in the
November Maclean's magazine as
saying:- "We found that nine out

The girls then went to patrol
corners and discussed the
projects they wished to work on.
Lt. Ceaser and Lt. McLennan
introduced 'a new game to the
girls. They put all their shoes
into a pile. At the 'blow of the
whistle, the Guides raced to the
shoe pile, found their own shoes,
Aaced ,or buckled _them up and
'the first patrol back with their
shoes on correctly ,*eye the
winners.
...The Oriole patrol made
campfire up of skits, songs and
games.

necklines and shortsleeves featured fitted panel -bodices -that
flowed into A -lines with inverted pleats centre back accented
by bows. Matching crovVriless picture hats were worn and each
carried a natural' basket with daisy mums, baby pink
carnations, turquoise strawflowers and baby's breath.
Michael McIlroy, Stratford, was groomsman. Steve
Remington, Goderich; Brian Remington, London; John
Bondy, Stratford; and Gordon Carr, Stratford, ushered guests.
, A reception followed at the CandlelightRoom' „with the
bride's mother receiving guests in a mint *green silkdress and
coat ensemble with matching accessories. The mother of the
groom assisted wearing along -sleeved pink dress with sleeveless,
matching coat and accessories. -
The couple is residing in London.

Church, Goderich, September 26 amid standards of yellow
gladioli for the wedding ceremony at which Suzanne Elizabeth
Durnin and James Trevin Farrish exchanged 'vows and rings.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Durnin,
Goderich, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Bower'
Farrish, North Bay. '
Organist 'Wm. Cameron accompanied the „soloist, Mrs. Lee
'McCallum who sang Be Thou With Me and May They Be

floor -length gown of white lagoda. The round collar was
accented by Swiss guipure lace. The same lace trimmed the
full-length sleeves, formed a natural - waistline and. also
• enhanced the long, flowing train. She carried an English bridal
cascade of yellow sWeetheart roses, myrtle and, stephanotis.
Maid of honor. was Miss JOyce Durnin, Goderich.
BrAlesmaids were Mrs. Linda Allin and.Mrs. Patricia Hodges,
both of Goderich. Flowergirl was Miss Kimberley Vanstone,
also of Goderich. They were gowned alike in full-length gowns
of deep blue moss crepe featuring round collars and long, full
sleeves. They wore 'Matching picture hats of the same deep
blue and carried natural baskets of bronze mums and wheat.;
.1ohit Hodges, Goderich, was best man. Ushers were Ronald
Farrish, North Bay, and Raymond Allin, Goderich.
The reception was held at Sanford Valley Hall for wedding
guests from London, Gorrie, North Bay and NewWestminster,
