The cjoll was made, of cloth and wore a special little "Patchwork" skirt. Each Brownie • had embroidered her • name on one of the patches and then Tawny had sewn them all on'the skirt. During the busy part of their meeting , the Tweenies learned how to tie their " ties in a reef knot, the Golden Bar girls shone shoes and... the Golden.; Hand workers. learned how to wrap parcels properly. SECOND. GODER ICH BROWNIES (by Carolyn Little) We had a very good time at Brownies on Friday. ' For Pow -Wow we had a terrarium and glass ornaments,. little toy men, a ring and a very pretty ornament made of nicely finished driftwood trimmed with a little bird. Both the terrarium and the 'driftwood ornament were made by our Brownies. : ' Our Tester, Mrs. Brander, came and tested some of. the girls on Kim's Game which goes toward the Observers badge. We taught , the younger Brownies the song "In a Cottage in a Wood" before we sang Taps to close our meeting.. Chinese cabbage 1 bunch watercress In a large chafing dish or deep electric --skillet pllaeed-in- Vie- - --- centre of, the dining table, cofnbine chicken, onion, and beef bouillons. Bring to a boil and .add garlic, soya .sauce and ,parsley. Reduce heat and maintain at a simmer. Each person chooses his own portion' of . fish, shellfish or meat and vegetables; then using chopsticks cooks the food, one piece at a time, - in the bubbling bouillon until done. The traditional asequence meat or fish first - - then the vegetables. Makes 6 servings. Optional serving suggestion: Serve with shredded celery, bean sprouts 'and shredded lemon peel. Note: ' for "scallion - "chrysanthemums" cut scallions in quarters, make several lengthwise slashes at both ends of piece.
