The - Travel, and .:.Ai.dyenture
series are ready 'to start' next
Tuesday (Oct. 27).
We are very fortunate tp have
such a great programme" setup
for our winter "months'
, enjoyment. So many of our
friends are travelling" to ' these
countries and tell us of the ,-
beautiful sights and show us
some pictures of their travels
and we are beginning to feel that
we know -- just a little bit — and
would ._like to know more about
them.
We HAVE this wonderful
opportunity with this series and
the fact that the -man who
filmed the picture is also the one
who comes to tell us -- m •
person, all about it, makes it so
much more interesting.
Many -,- a great many - of us
will never go to these countries
,— and, if we did we would not
see half the interesting things
these fellows have. managed to
film. -
So, - our armchair travelling
will take us to, six countries -- .
six very enjoyable evenings this
winter. '

Good drivers "pump" their
brakes when + the need arises for
fast deceleration; "this - is, they
apply, then release their brakes
in rapid succession. This reduces
the danger of skidding, and is
recommended: particularly when
.the road surface is slippery.
But there is one potential
danger in 'this technique that is
little realized; says the Ontario
Safety League. If one of the
brake lights is not functioning,
"pumping" gives the effect of a
turn signal to the other brake
light, which could' mislead
following traffic. This is an•
iddifibiial` reason why alt car
lights should be checked
frequently, and -replaced
immediately when necessary.
