NICHOLLS !WESLEY MEMORIAL FREE METHQ,DIST CHURCH) ' Script:.23:37 "O. Jerusalem, . 'Jeil`ipsalem, thou that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are 'sent unto thee; how . oft •: 4would I have ,gathered 'thy .,vhitdren . together, ,even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her • Wings but ye would not." In a day when the church • is ' repeatedly held, up -to public criticism, it might be timely to remind both parties that, from the beginning, God has had His way 'of doing things, and man; his, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my .ways higher than your ways, and .• my thoughts than your thoughts." Ise. 55:9. Our Lord made it crystal clear, that he ,didn't come to this earth to get His marching orders, he brought them with him. "Lo,.I come to, do . Thy will 0 God. Heb. 10:9 "Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven." Matt. 6:10. They are not a few to -day, who like- the , little boy , sliding helplessly 'down the slippery roof, prayed -the Lord to save him; but after being stopped. by - a mail caught -in his trousers; c -said, I°11 be alright, Iv won't need you- now. It's not strange that a world in ,trouble should suddenly become . church conscious; for one day at Gaperpaum, our Lord was suddenly hemmed in by a hungery multitude. "Jesus answered - thelia saying, Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye seek .me, not because ye • saw the miracles, but because ye did„eat of the loaves, and were filled.” John 6:26. Jesus realised, all he ,had to do, was cater to their temporal desires, and they'd crown him their king, but harp on SRiritual. issues, and, they'd • crown him with thorns. The taunts, and reproaches of Our day has frustrated, and bewildered many young church leaders; and unlike the wise old Apostle, who said it is not reason that we should leave the Word of God, and serve. tables. Acts 6:2. have rose up, and led out, giving .priority to the .• Temporal, and physical issues of three score years, and ten Ps. 90: 10, eclipsing the issues of spiritualregeneration, indispensable to a future "world without end." But our rally .Presbyterialworldis demanding allat . these y things, no strings attached, and • these are not, the church's to. give. Therefore we find•ourselves locked in the same kind of stalemate -that drew forth from ' our Saviour's lips, the words of our text. It is common knowledge that • nearly every religion on the globe, constitutes, the Golden Rule in some form or another. Yet where shall we go to find that exemplar? Suffice it to say, here is proof positive, •.that only when the inner nature of a man is changed, will we'discover that society .has changed, and ultiriatlq the ills' of` our wor`Cd.w The ninth annual rally of the West • Huron region of the Huron -Perth .Presbyterial was held on.
