Goderich, for the first time in
many' years, was the scene for
the,. Fah Conference for Region
One of the Federation of
Women Teachers' 'Associations
of Ontario.
Approximately 206 *omen
teachers from 11 counties
bordering Lake Huron . met in
Victoria Public School,
Mrs. Anne Ruxton of Port
Elgin, a director for Region One,
was chairman of the meeting.
The devotions that opened the
conference : were led by the
Brussels Unit. Mrs. , 'Evelyn
Merrill `'61 Brussels, president of
the : Huron County Association
extended a welcome to all.
The provincial president of
F.W.T.A.O„ Miss Marion Evans,
Don Mills, brought greetings'
from the provincial office.
Mrs. Lenore Graham,
Windsor, second vice-president
of F.W.T.A.O. and a director for
Region One, gave aninformative
talk about the Structre of _
Federation —.from the local'unit
to the world organization
(W.C.O.T.P,).
A member of the executive

acquainted. the group with biW-

suggestions had been made 'by.

the Fall Conference. "
Mrs. Sophia Ho%feld
acquainted the teachers with the
loans available for. intramural
and 'extramural courses. She
commented that - Region one
had submitted= no ' applications
for these loans and she urged
teachers to use the fund as"
interest rates are one half the
bank rates.
It was announced* by Mrs.
Buxton that the Spring.
Conference 1971 would ba held

Conference 1.971 in Lambtou,

music.

off to an enjoyable school` term.

What's new? Well to start the
year off Miss Stemp has taken
Mrs. Morbeck's place as teacher.'
The new class representative is
Gerald De Jong (Jed). The room
is filled' ..with 37 energetic'
studepts.

Haris as secretary and 'Jess
Baechler as .treasurer. The year
has started off well for all the
students of St: Mair's,School.

mayor of Goderich and Mrs

director of Education for Huron
"County, and Mrs. Cochrane.
Dr. Mills, Mr. Cochrane, and
Mrs. Wallace each .welcomed the
teachers on behalf of the, town
and the -board of education.

with a gift. ; She has r, tjred'from
the teaching profession after 45
years «,service. •
Mrs. Lee t, McCallum "
entertained the group with

Kane, and her committee were
commended for the .excellent

..Conference. Also Mrs., Mann
Carroll and her decorating
