A special commemorative service was held in Colborne
Township on Sunday afternoon to dedicate the site of the
former Evangelical Church there. Members of the Benmiller
United Church congregation and residents of Colborne
Township made the project a community effort after it was
discovered the land formerly occupied by the church still was
the property of the church. For 15 years atterriots were matte to
•
save the site of the church, founjded in 1861, and when the •
lands were deeded to the Benmiller congregati9rl two years ago '4
plans were carried out. Colborne Township Council offered to
assist, the church by keeping the grounds in shape . and
contributions have ' made' possible the erection of a
commemorative plaque and fencing at the site located two miles
east of Benmiller.. -- Staff Photo
