Now those same Sarnia coaches are counting, their blessings that the only time they have to face Horner's hord is in ' pre -season play. Whereas some seasons back the Goderich teas went into these m e tilts as distinct underdogs, looking on the games as a chance to play opposition . superior to any they would meet in league , play and hoping they. wouldn't • lose too badly, in recent seasons ' the tables have steadily turned. Now the local Vikings can go out onto the field expecting to beat their Chemical Valley rivals, an& they did just that, winning four , out of four against Sarnia schools during the past week. 1st Friday the Vikings, Junior and Senior, went to Sarnia to play Central, last years city champs. The Senior Vikings came out on the long end of a 24 - 6 count in their game, dominating play most of the way. Two touchdowns in the first quarter got them off on the right foot, The first came when Warren Watt tackled the Sarnia quarterback, near the Sarnia 10 yard line ` on the' first series of downs, jarring the ball loose. Gary Bowman scooped it up and `took it in for the score: n Gary Lounsbury cracked seven yards. through the centre of the line. for the other one, after a Goderich drive had stalled on the Sarnia one yard • - line, but Northern failed to move the ball out of the shadow of their own goal posts, giving the Viking. another chance at it. - Sarnia scored in the second FRIEND: One who continues to love you in spite of your success.
