Dear Mr. Price. ;
1 am enclosing some letters 1
have received recently pertaining
to the , Snug Harbour Marina
facilities. •.
I think that the'people of'the
Town woi4, be interested in the
comments `` -obi these letters which
are spontaneous and unsolicited
and give some idea of the impact
of ' this facility , on our public
image.
Mr. Wilkins and his assistants
J. Wallace and S. Hall are to be
complimented for their
helpfulness and "courteous
attention to those people who
visit our Harbour and deserve
public thanks for their efforts on
behalf of the Town.
Dr. G. F. Mills,
' Mayor,
Town of. Goderich
praise
tt has come to my attention
that on .the weekend of July
18-19 our engineer, Mr. Don
Donovan was with a group of
men who had serious boat
trouble in Lake Huron. They
were hopelessly sttanded in your
city for several days.
We are very happy that he has
returned home safe and sound
and we feel that you as Mayor of
Goderich deserve a special thank
you from us. Their security and
well-being during this storm was
m no small part due to the
efficient management of the
Harbor Master of your city. Mr.
Donovan told me that they
could not have been treated
better.
-Be-sides thanking you 1.. want
o' congratulate --yon •for.'having-'
such a good man on the job' at
the harbor. We are grateful Tor .
the help and kindness shown one
of our - most cherished
-employees Mr. Don' Donovan'.
Respectfully,
Sister Mary Cecilia
Ad'ininistrator
Saint Anthony Villa
Toledo, Ohio.
I would like to, congratulate
,,the town of Goderich on the fine
facility you ; have in . the Snug
Harbour Marina. As a boater
with extensive cruising on the
Great Lakes, your•Snug Harbour
is one of the finest.
While writing you I do not
wish to be - critical but one
suggestion would be that'power
boats . today require a fair
amount of electrical 'power for
the facilities that they are
equipped with and the arnerage
that your marina' has is very
insufficient and can cause

considerable loss. to the boater,'
Many boats nowadays • are
equipped with stoves and
freezers, and these are often
stowed ,-- with a reasonable
quantity of provisions; 1; such a •
boat happens to visit your
harbour and does not receive
adequate amperage (a minimum
of 15 but should be 30 amps for
each ,boat), °during the' night or
any time, the loss in food could
be substantial and likewise
annoying. True, many boats are
equipped with a generator but it
is rather unpleasant for other
boaters to let these run alt night.
We and our boating companions,
the Davidsons, wish to
congratulate you on your
efficient dockmaster, Alex. He
was ,most co-operative and
helpful to all the boaters.
Sincerely yours,
Frank W. Summerhayes,
Combined Developments Limited.
You and your town must be
extremely proud of your
`excellent harbor facilities for
transient cruisers. To compare,
your municipal marina with any
other on the eastern shore of
Lake Huron is simply
impossible.
You not only • had the
foresight to see a need for such a
harbor, but you also had the
ability to pursue its completion.
Your choice of dock master;
namely, Mr. Wilkins, typlifies
your excellent judgement. As
you are surely aware, he
represents the town of .Goderich
to each and every boater that

of Lake Huron, and .during this
trip, we visited your beautiful
city. Tho'Ugh we had intended to
stay only overnight at your
marina facilities, we became
weathered in for four days.
TQo often, traveling
yachtsmen are prone to take for
granted the facilities various
clubs and marinas offer.
'However, we would be remiss in
not expressing our appreciation -
for the many courtesies
extended by the • Goderich
Marina Dockmaster, Mr. Alex
Wilkins. Because of _ hiss many
thoughtfulnesses, he made our
stay, as well as that of other
boatmen, a pleasant visit and -.left
uslWith a desire to return.
We were also impressed with
the cleanliness of the marina
facilities, a condition not always
found in many marinas.
Would ' appreciate your
advising Mr. Wilkins of our
gratitude for his many
kindnesses.
Very truly yours,
Vernon and Marie Jack,
Yacht Ma-Ve-Ke.

Sheardown't asked Councillor
Paul, Carroll ' at last week's

marina Would be closed for the

Councillor Carroll advised
Sheardown the marina would be
closed at the enc, of September,
as it was last year.
"There has been ni vandalism•

Frank Mille: "We owe it to the
people down there. Two weeks
won't affect the marina budget

Councillor Paul Carroll

"No doubt we'll just get the
