William Penn said it best: "Drunkeness spoils the health, dismounts the mind and reveals secrets. Inebriation is impudent, dangerous and mad." Ann Lander: A relative • o mine ha.s a habit of taking the ph ne off the hook when she waitwat to nap, It is maddening to try th reach her and to, get a busy signal for two hours at 'a` time. Atli' 'I wrong to feel this, way? ,‘What -does the telephone company have to say about people who do it? -Hackles Up Dear Hack: I fail to see why —HEALTH & SAFETY you consider your relative selfish merely because she wishes t nap undisturbed. Sour notion that every phone owner should be ready, willing and able' to respond to calls around the clock is-presuMptuous indeed. Phones should not be left off the hook, however. Illinois Bell tells me that widespread, use of this Practice can louse up the entire system. 'For, frequent nappers they recommend a ringdt cut-off which can be installed for- a modest charge. The caller gets a ring signal but the napper hears not Mg.
