Last week Marty .Baechler
camehome for his sister's
wedding. Lynda Baechler is now
. Mrs. Ray Allin. Nothing unusual
there,, brothers are always
travelling home to beat their
. sisters' weddings.
But Marty Baechler has an
alias -= Jimmy Finch. And
Jimmy Finch has a band, the
Oriental Mod Squad. The Mod
Squad and Marty arrived in town
one week early for Lynda's big
day and played the Candlelight
Tavern - better known to most
of us as the Pizza Patio (we still
serve pizzas!):
Lynda ' will be able • to

because the Oriental Mod Squad
was *in town, and txhe pied piper
had nothing on them.
The band was formed about -a
.-year::aga.and-has been -busk sin
, ,.thin making th aightr-club
circuit in Canada and the United
States. A measure . of their
success can be had from the
knowledge, that they were
booked into th - fabulous
Caesars Palace in Lai Vegas for a
week before :playing, Campbell's
in London. They have bookings
now as far as they care to see
ahead add are looking forward
to another trip to Las Vegas.
Success hasbeen a : Marty
Baechler catchword. He never
took a lesson on bass guitar, but
does an outstanding job on it.
,He never took a lesson as a'
booking agent, unless we count
those that came -from the school
of hard knocks, but he did well
at that fo" :Ve doil"know that
he . ever took lessons in
personality but he and the rest
of the Oriental Mod Squad really
come out tops in that
department.
Personality seems to be the
name of the game for this group
of highly talented people: They
combine a blend of oriental
charm with western music and
bring. ;.about a result Goderich
will not forget.
The Pizza Patio • was packed
for the group's week long stay.
Parking lots overflowed, tables
were as scarce as diamonds in a
lily pond, even elbowroom at
the doors was at a premium:

But let's introduce the group:
Marty of course needs little
introduction, he's a Goderich
