I am not -top young, and do not drive a car. About the 24th of May, you had an editorial in your paper, a very nice one about the holiday. But, if I 'remember correctly, you referred to the 24th of May as. Empire Day. I taught in Victoria School for 16 years, and, Empire Day was always May 23rd. A special programme was held 'of a Patriotic nature. I remember teaching my Grade 1 pupils about the colours of the dear old -Union Jack, and, that the "red' said to be "brave.", the "white" said to be ` pure", and the "blue" said to be "true." Thanking you, again,. L remain, Sincerely, (Miss) Hazel I. Hartwell. P.S. At ow special programme that beautiful hymn "Land of Hope and "Glory" was usually sung. • community in the area presented the town with an ornamental. fountain as an expression of gratitude for the part Canadians played in the).betion, --staff photo, • Goderich Reeve Harry Worsen, accepting 'an ornamental fountai'n--frorrrthe- _Dutch ---Can diary-people-=m---the---area-+ast Friday said he was proud to accept the fountain on behalf of the people of Goderich "from our Dutch.
