Every good Girl Guide camp has a gr ase pit and here we see the construction of one such unit.
Sally Stringer (left) and. Mrs. Jean slie, camp commandant, are seen here fitting a screen over a
pit which has been dug in, the earth.. tampers then pour greasy water through •the, screen, the water
- seeping away in the earth and the grease caught in the screen where it can be yvashed. You don't
attract flies that way, you see, - (staff, photo).

- This is a Girl Guide campout kitchen. Here the girls are preparing to cook beef stew and dumplings
for lunch. That main interest when this photo was taken to get the fire going — and keep it going
to complete the task in time to appease`hungry camper appetites. — (staff photo).
