evening, May 30 for the marriage
ceremony at which Jean Louise

The bride is the -daughter of
Mrs. M. H. Stephens; Goderich
and the late Mr. Stephens. The
groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs.
R. H. Lanktree, Galt.
The bride escorted by her
brother, James M. Stephens,
looked- radiant • in an empire
waisted • A-line gown of silk
organza featuring sheer bouffant
sleeves 'and chapel train
appliqued with imported French
, lace. The fitted bodice and
stand-up .collar were enhanced .
with similar lace `appliques. Her
floor -length veil of tulle illusion
fell from a headpiece of lace and
seed pearls. She carried a cascade
of stephanotis, white carnations;
pink sweetheart roses and
gypsophila.
Mrs. Betty _Juane Stephens,
sister-in-law of the bride was
matron of honour. Misses Lynda
and Cheryl Lanktree, sisters of
the groom were bridesmaids.
'The- bridal attendants were
similarly gowned in varying
shades of pink 'crystal organza
designed and sewn by Lynda
Lanktree. The gowns featured a
set-in train gently shaped from
the empire waistline, full sheer
wrist -length sleeves with cuffs
and bodices accented by rows of
covered buttons. They carried
colonial bouquets of miniature
pink carnations and mauve
mums, white shasta daisies and
gypsophila with white streamers.

The regular monthly meeting
of the Afternoon Auxiliary of
-the Women's Missionary Society
of Knox Church was held on
June 16 with 23 members
present.
Miss L. Macarthur for
Friendship and Service reported
a total of 103 visits. .
Mrs. C. Cutt was in charge of
the devotions. She closed with a
prayer, for understanding and
love in the world of today.
Mrs. L. H. Diggon followed
with a summary of the chapter, ,
"Christianity in the Life of the
Chinese People," in the study
book.
In spite of difficulties, many
churches, schools and hospitals
were established in China, and
Chinese Christians played an
important part in the national
life. The Communist, regime,
established in 194g, ended the
. active work of the missionaries.
A cheque for $25 was voted
to ' support the • Goderich
Community Homemaker
Service. -
To support a child for a week
at camp this summer, a Cheque
for $25 will be sent to the
Children's Aid Society,
