League action is well under way
with games talking place every
Monday and Thursddy evening
and Sunday "afternoon.
Most . recent action• involved
games between the new entries
of Benmiller and the Goderich
Discounts, .played Monday
evening, June 15. - Benmiller
shattered the Discounts 12-6
with two •homeiisfrona. Black and
one from Pirie, Lamb and
Faikiner, to 'put the game under
wraps..
The second lame of the night, ,
between Goderich Building
Centre and Gord's Sports, tended
in an 11-6 win for Gord's Sports.
Earlier 'games this month
involved the Discounts and .the
Building Centre' on- June 7`—
with 'the Centre winning 6-1 —
and the -Discounts suffering their
second defeat' of the day 'when
they went down 14 to 8 to
DRMCO later in the afternoon.
June 8 saw Sandy's Clippers
trounce the Discounts 13-6 as
the new entry tried to make up
time in the league schedule with
a lot of games in a little time.
Benmiller split the " Goderich
Building Centre crew '12-6 the
same day.
On Thursday, June 11, Stan
Doherty pitched a no-hitter for
Gord's Sports bringing his team
a 20-0 win. Vanderburg hit a
homier during that game with

Douglas Dickie, son of Mr. and,
Mrs. ira amide, RR 5, Lucknow,
received his Bachelor of Science , `
degree in Agriculture on May 29
from the University of Guelph.
His father and brother, Denver,
are employees of, D.R.M.Co.
Goderich Wand Douglas -also had
two summers' work' -there.
Douglas was the first student to
be awarded a "Champion"
University Scholarship. He is
working under Dr. Peters in the
Animal Science Department in
Ottawa' for the summer and
plans • to return' to Guelph in• the
fall to 'study for his' Master's
