So r3' g I've been t in Q g et this , ' , .
Recently a friend loaned me
his little tourist booklet about'

foresight and ingenuity -in"

Ppractical way, this magnificent
Lake port located at the mouth
of the historic . Maitland
River.—That was . a
mouthful—but I have boiled it
down considerable.
Whoever had the job of
writing up this booklet -printed'
,by the, Signal Presse -loved to
write flowery descriptions—in a
big way. He was worse than I
could ever- be—or I should say
`better' and he enjoyed doing it.
So we had something in.
w common. He claims "The whole
layout is an exhibition of town
planning in remarkable
perfection".
According to some of our
worries today where we feel
there has been very little
planning for the future, in about
year 1919 everything was under
control. They had a great list of
industrial features in which there
was ampleroom for expansion E.ducatipnal facilies o e f'a

I, did not ,know that Goderich"
had been the largest producer of
flax in the .province with special
opportunities afforded for the
growing of- flax`' and the
manufacture of linen. .
The Dominion Gov't at theft
time was offering a liberal '
bounty on linen yarns spun in
Canada. Shipping facilities then,
as now, were excellant-+-not
much change.except that they
claimed this harbour to be
