The Marginet family live in a,

seemed rather small for three

The family welcomed the and
I felt right- at home. Mom and
Dad , left; for Canada around 7
o'clock that night.
The next day the school
proved to , be very nice and so
"'did the pupils. My teacher whose
• :name was Mr. Marco, was a riot.
Monday night Mr. Marginet
took us to see a fountain on
Belle Isle that'changed colours.
Tuesday morning we had
° music in a crowded little music
, room which you had to' walk
about a mile of hall,to• get to.
What surprised me most was
that; lockers lined every inch of
the ..hall ,that are used by pupils.
Another thing is. that the back
wall of some classrooms is a long
folding door that • opens to
another room. Our room opened
.to-the..libxaxy .which is, very nice.

The library is all ,brown and
orange and they, have a lot less
books• than Victoria School .
Wednesday night Sharyl and I
vent shopping and I had lots of
fun as I love spending money.
Thursday Mr. Marco took
Nancy Garland and I plus our
hostesses out. to lunch at the '
Nugget restaurant.. After ,school
the class :gave Nancy and I' a
party in the gym.
The gym is smaller than
Victoria's and the stage pulls out
of the wall like a'large drawer.
Thursday night we wenbroller
skating. Friday we had gym.
Later in the day we went to art
with the art teacheriVlr. Bainer.
For a small' gift he gave me a
small red purse.
At 3 o'clock I said good-bye
to everyone and then, we went to
the fair until , late Friday night.
On Saturday morning I was
-anxious to get home to Goderich
so we left early for Canada.
A trip like that was very

goes,Nt's a nice place to visit
but I wouldn't want to live
there!"

St. Clair .Shores is a suburb of
Detroit with a large number of
homes- and not too many
factories. The climate is' not as

I attended Violet Elementary

lessons were much the same as
Victoria Public School but they
have a half an hour recess in
the morning and no•recess in the
afternoon.
They start school at 8:25 a.m

Mrs. Marberger took, Martin

where there was hundreds of
aquariums with from the tiniest
of fish to the size of sharks.
At the museum there was a

Metropolitan Park. This park has
a parking lot for hundreds of
cars. It has also a pool, roller
