The treasurer's report showed
total receipts from October 1 as
$5,754.87,while the campaign
chairman reported • funds
or collected as approximately
$9,(190, some of which had not
as yet . been transferred' to tile
unit treasurer. Mrs. Dust
commended Mr, Barlow and the
other branch chairri en for their
splendid effort, '
A letter from; Ontario Division
advised an increase 'to .7 cents
per „. mile reimbursement. for
drivers providing • transportation
for cancer patients will be made.
(The president announced a
workshop, being held for all
members,on "1144,ay, 23 in Guelph.
As education chairman, Mrs.
McConnell reported 15,000
students had been. reached in the
follow up �anti-smoking
campaign carried out by the
county health unit, pamphlets
and posters are being distributed
and films shown. Mrs.
McConnell and two, other
members attended the opening
of 'the new Thanieswood• Lodge
addition in London and were
very impressed with the.
excellent facilities ' and most
attractive surroundings.
Encouraging reports were
presented by the branch service
to Patients chaiannen, and a .
feature included • in Mrs.
MacNaughton s, Wingham clinic
report was the introduction' of
12 volunteer workers who were_
present, and Who give so much
of their time and effort• in
helping the work of the clinic. In
recognition of Mrs.
1VIacNaughton's long and faithful
service :in. the society and with
the clinic, the Wingham
president presented her with the
society's Certificate of Service
award.'

speaker, Rev -t ' Barry Passruore Of
Wingham' United Church, who
spoke- on the population
explosion, He suggested several
answers to the problem, and also
alerted members to many
dangers from pollution with
some possible methods of
control. Thanks to Rev.
Passmore was tendered by
Harvey Johnston.
Arrangements were made to
hold the annual meeting in
Clinton in September. Mrs.
Montgorneyy brought up the
need . for walkers for disabled
persons. Service clubs • in • the
various" towns snake available
some wheel chairs, hospital beds,
etc. and ikwas suggested that we
attempt to make an inventory of
all „equipment available for
future reference.
Motion of adjournment was
made and refreshments were
served by the ladies of Wingham
branch.
