Tonight is another meeting of
persons interested in the
' establishment ,of a Homemaker
Service in, Goderich. I understand •
the committee met last Thursday "'
° evening, but ' with a small and
rather 'disappointing attendance.
• The meeting tonight is, at 8
p.m. in the nurses"room in the
Court Houk. ' There are
indicatiohs that r the- group is
getting' closer to the time when
there WILL BE a bonafide
_Homemaker Service in Goderich,
for residents to rely upon when
there is a need. . .,
May I: be one of the first to
congratulate the hard workers on
this comittee for their interest
in co imunity 'affairs.
Home er Service in my view,
Is -pr of the most tremendous
assets any community can boast.
Not only does it make life a good
deal more livable for the folks
who are already burdened with
financial and• perhaps emotional
"hang-ups", it provides an air of
extra security for everyone. '

. Service in Goderich would lessen
the cares and worries of the sick,
the poor, the healthy, the
homeless„the rich, the needy.

I suppose the green paint.was

interesting comments which I
would like to pass along for what
they are worth.
First of all; -he said -the -citizens
.of Goderich would be m in a
mistake to hand the kids a
beautiful building in which to
have a drop-in centre or a youth
centre. He said the kids would
much, prefer an old barn or some
other equally unconventional -
type dwelling, which they could
take over and decorate to suit
their whims.
I quite agree. As my caller said,
if adults were ' doing the -
decorating 'they would probaIaly
paint the walls pale blue when the
kids want orange and purple and
red and any other ghastly color

When ,you think about it. this
exchange program is a pretty

days" • when I ' went to school, a
week-long visit in Michigan would
have been about as remote as a

today....possible but not too
probable.
Not only is, it a 'fantastic
government to permit, • the
dandelions on the post office lot
to go . toseed, spreading to
nearby ' premises. But I also
know 'that most people consider
dandelions to be one of the
lesser of the bothersome weeds
because tijeir season is short and
for the most part, when they are
through flowering and seeding,
dandelions .are not too
noticeable.
In 'fact, I know people who,
wouldn't destroy dandelions at
all because they would be doing
themselves out of some tasty
saladsin,the early spring! Have
you ever eaten- dandelion greens
with a_ good old-fashioned sour

all, I'd say.
Still, my caller and some of
