Incidence of common measles is almost five times as great in
Canada this year as in the corresponding period of 1969.
Common , or red measles, ;-which • Might have* harmful
after-effects to children, can be controlled by a one shot
vaccine 'called Lirugen. Parents are urged to consult- their
family physician. Traditionally, measies cases peak during the
spring molls.

"It would appear that

It is estimated that more than

Medical authorities point out
that many parents are unaware

Dr: C. S. Anglin, associate

Dr. G. P. A. Evans, MOH for

Read labels
before using.
There's an -old saying about
taking horses cold
water but. not
being, able to make them drink.
Today that., proverb could be
altered to read "You can put a
label on a pesticide bottle, but
you !can't make people read it.”
Which :is a pity, because those
labels should be read.
Professor R. Kelly,
Department of Brotany,
University of Guelph; points out
that it's just plain commonsense
to read the instructions on a
pesticide container . before the
contents are used. It is the user's
responsibility to, read the label
and protect his family and his
operation from possible harm.
•
The information on the label, .>
