the admirable job done by the newcomers to
the stage. '
Shirley Macmillan as Monnie had the
difficult tasit of appearing to be a befuddled
invalid, one which she ' handled very
adequately. Rita Ross, as her old -servant
E mmie, was undoubtedly the bright light of
the entire performance. Her portrayal which'
was both humorous 'and sensitive amazed the
audience. It is rare to find one 'with so little
experience that can do such a good job. Gil
Rummenie was every inch the proper lawyer
in his role as Philip Mortimer. and Marjorie
Robinson as Charlotte -Dora acquited herself
well, in her maiden performance.
Veteran Kathy Jenkins once again proved
why . she, is one of the most valuable
members of ,G.L.T. Mrs. Jenkins entered into
her cold as Freda Jeffries with an unusually_
sure grasp of the character..' She was every
inch the ' former barmaid and . her coarse
humour delighted theatregoers. John Turner
displayed a fine controlled delivery and an
excellent flair in his part pf Edward. It is to
be hoped that G.L.T. subscribers will be
fortunate enough to see him.again.
To round off' -the production, the set was
one 'of the most complete and authentic we
have seen. It was further enhanced lay the
fine scenic painting of Martha Rathburn.
Congratulations are certainly. in order to
both director and producer for doing such a
tine job under limited conditions:
In May the last production, a' comedy
directed by Kathy Jenkins'will complete the
season.
