provide the delightful fluff and
the girls will Provide the tea and
• delicious desserts.
Watch ' for it in the Sigjai
later -- but in the meantime
mark your calendar, and make a
Mental "note to . contact some
friends and enjoy the afternoon.
• To go balk to the snowy
landscape • 4' back to reality —
the Winter Carnival was 'a real
success! Next year it will be,
planned earlier and will avoid
other events at nearby towns --
it does take early — and lots of
planning.
All -in -alb I think a vote of
thanks should go out to those
-fellows who worked so hard (— a .
lot •° harder than they had
'expected-- to bring the event to
Goderich.
P.S: I hear Sammy lost ten
pounds!

torch -lite parade from the only

place — the grandstand — where
it really showed up as a most
beautiful sight you may ever see.
We had a terrific sunset and by
the time the torches started
around the track; the color pf
the ,torches against the brilliant
colors of the late sutlyset -'- well,.
it was a picture no artist could
paint and ',I •doubt if anyone
made a color -foto of it.
Theoski-mobillers also deserve
a Vote of thanks for the handling
of their madhines in that there
were no accidents for the two
days. - For this we can all be
thankful as there certainly could
have been. many accidents since
people will not be careful. They
know that if a machine is
corning someone. will .warn them
•
or rescue them — and they will
do as •Choy darn' please about
where they stand or sit -- no.
matter WHAT rules . o"r
precautions are setdown. That
was, the' ox11y part -of the 'whole
twd days that ware , the workers c,
to a frazzle. Th,e parents seem' to
have no control of their children
and certainly no discipline. •
Discipline seems to be a fancy,
word that is not fashionable the
last ten years .and it surely
shows! I shouldn't say the last
ten years, it is longer than that"
since the° children escaped the
strap or .a good clout and the
grown-ups -are sorry they 'how
have no control.- -.
This weekend we have the
Figure Skating Carnival and it
is always a colorful and thrilling
event. We are fortunate to have
so many talented youngsters in
this area and we should be very
proud of them.
Everyone has been working_
for weeks on costumesiroutines,
lights, etc. etc. that goes' into.
making an ice skating carnival a
success. So many of yogi have

Three lieutenants and 12 Guides
were enrolled. The commissioner
was unable to attend' so 'Captain
Tigert' had to' enroll the new
members.
Scarlet Tanagers had
campfire and. also had a skit,
sang songs and told jokes. Sheila
' Sinnett and Judy Tigert i ert did
some acting.

experience - or at least, W. T.
had.— in the operation of stage
coaches out of London. They
ran .the Toronto railway. with
horsedrawn cars up to the eve of
electrification in 1890, then sold
..out for $1,452,000. William's
wife was Elizabeth McDougall.
History is silent as to how or
when the Goderich 'girl met the
Toronto. street railway magnate.

estate, including several lots on
North street south of the Nelson
street corner and was briefly the
owner of Lot 8, on which the

1854 from the Baron van Tuyle

Dr. McDougall left his
property in trust to, a brother,
Sylvester, and .William Seymour,

sell - real estate and invest the
residue for maintenance of my
children until 21 - or until my
• daughter marries." ° His brother
and wife were to occupy the
residence and "treat my' children
with parental care." The brother
and Mr. Seymour were
appointed guardians over the
children, as well as executors of
the will. The doctor's estate was
listed at about $4,000
