LOCAL ART ON DISPLAY
AT THE LIBRARY
The Goderich • Art Club is
currently displaying the latest
works of its members in. the
reading room at the Goderich
Public Library. This , versatile
group• offers foreign landscapes,
'abstracts, still life, and the: ever
popular tocal sacenes.
Throughout the year the exhibit
will be chnged as new -paintings
are added every. two months.
Tile art club raj-formned'over
▪ ,fifteen . years ago, and the late
Tom Pritchard, local artist who
painted the Huron County, Court
House scene that hangs behind
the librarian's desk, was a
founding. member of tl`ie club.
• Painting sessions are held on
Wednesday afternoons' in • the
clubs newly acquired studio at
St. Peter's School, and the „art
techniques ` taught range• from
simple _ pencil sketches to the
more complicated oils. These
sessions are open to . anyone
interested in art and visitors are
welcome to come and :off rve.
The club sponsors two
weekend seminars each year
where well known artists and art
teachers are invited *to
participate. The Art Club
originated the Art Mart, held in
July, which began as a simple
outdoor showing by local art
students, and has now evolved
into a three-day community.

snow will be piled in front of the
grandstand area for entrants to
start work on them Saturday.

permitted to make their
.sculptures in the school yard
where they will be judged.
Special exhibition hockey
games have been, scheduled for
Saturday evening when teams
from Mt: Clements, Michigan,
Willmeet Goderich House
League teams.
Sunday- the CHHL game will
be on after the close of Outdoor
events.
