Grade .2 Students have been
studying...about . the Canadian
• Eskiwis. in; Canada's far North.
As we have sixteen girls and
' sixteen'boys, we are,having quite
a contest in Math. Up to date
the contest is even Steven.
We.had an exciting Valentine
Party'on friday the 13th when
- the girls played hostesses and
entertained the boys. -
PUBLIC. SPEAKING
On Wednesday, February 4,
we held a public speaking
`contest in out school to see who
would be grade champions,
Trustee Council Representative
in Clinton °and Legion
representatives in Goderich.
Shawn °Whalen 'went to Clinton
and did very well but did hot
win-. On- Friday --the lath- Shawn
Whalen ,and Debbie Durst spoke
at Goderich in the Senior
Division. Bethany Robertson
and Jean Rutledge spoke in the
Junior. Division. Strawtkyhaleri
spoke about Pollution, Debbie
.Durt about Superstitions,
Bethany Robertson about a trip

to Georgian Bay and Jean
Rutledge about Johnnie Cash.

First place winners in our
own school for each class are a

Gr. 4; Nancy Rowe T-- Gr. 5;
Jean Rutledge -- (Jr. 6; Debbie
Dust -- Gr. 7; Shawn Whalen —
Gr. 8. Each speaker did well and
should do even better in future
contests, Congratulations to all.
SPORTS
Ori February •2 -our volleyball
teams went to. Blyth and as Usual
the giris lost, but the boys won.
The girls wereminus one player
so we took Elaine Graver with
us. All the boys were present.
Better luck next time!
On Monday night the
mothers of Grade 7 and 8 girls
came to play volleyball. There
was fun for all.
We are looking forward to
skating again this Friday
afternoon. The big event of. -the
year comes after ,skating,
however, as the students play
the teachers sin a game . of
'broomball.
The broomball players are
learning the techniques of the
game and are having more
exciting games. •
Scores last week were — girls:
Tigers 1. • Jaguars 0; boys:
-Jaguar's 2, -Tigers 0.
Our noon hour activity at
present is floor hockey.
' Although there is.no ice it is still,
exciting.
Mr. Harman is planning a
volleyball tournament for
February 28. Ten schools will -
have a,chance to enter. •

Goderich; driven by John R.
Brodie; 353 Oak Street,
Goderich; were ill collision. --

Five children were taken off
the school bus to 'Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital in
Goderich. All were released after
examination.
Susan Miller sustained facial
and nasal bruising; David
Geddes, pelvic bruising; Deborah
,.Geddes;, a °bruised nose; James
Straughan, a lacerated left ear;,
Carolyn Porter, contusions (to
the left side of, the forehead.
