We received a note from a
Toronto reader . recently
criticising the proofreader at the
Signal -Star for a headline that
referred to cactus in the plural as
cactuses. The note, typed over
the top of a part of one page of
the Signal -Star, stated "Please
note the plural form of `Cactus'
is CACTI ....not cactuses."
In reply to our Toronto
reader, we would suggest he, or
she, (the note was not signed),
check a good dictionary — or
even a not so good one for that
matter. It will be seen that the
plural fotm of cactus may be
either cactuses OR cacti, with
preference given to cactuses.

Ten Little Drivers
10 Tittle drivers, cruising Ldown the line`, one had a heavy
foot and then there were nine. '
vers, the hour was.~getting~l'ate;---one -derzeclaa and then there were eight. ma
8' little drivers, and the evening seeed like' Heaven; one
showed his driving skill, and .then there were seven.
„7 little drivers, their lives were full of kicks; one bought a
bottle and then there were six.
6. little drivers, impatient to arrive; one jumped a traffic
light, and then there were five.
5 little drivers, *heeling near the shore; one viewed the
scenery, and then there were four.
4 little drivers, happy as could be; one passed upon a hill;
and then there were three.
3' little drivers were busy, it is true; one neglected car
repairs, and then there were two.
2 little drivers, and day was nearly done; one didn't dim his
lights-, and then there was one.
Yes, one little driver who's still alive today; by following
the safety rules,'he hopes to stay that way.
