Continued from Page 1 to the problems of operating the machines for recreation," explained Coun. Paul Carroll, chairman of the board. It was the general. feeling of owners ' that they should be permitted- to use town streets as the machines are registered by the Ontario Department of Transport. Owners did feel that some , consideration should be given to using the machines on, the boulevards when roads were not in condition for use. Disagreement at first arose over a suggestion from the board that facilities be made available at the Maitland Country Club and a` fee be paid= by owners for the use. Owners felt"they should not be made to pay extra for operating the machine after paying a considerable amount for the machine in the first place. Owners agreed it would not be out of hand to pay some of the costs of preparing the range and maintaining the facilities providing the costs were not high. . It was `-, suggested large numbers be placed on all 'machines to make them more easily identifiable, facilitating the police work of keeping the machines used in a proper manner Sam Argyle of Argyle Marine offered to donate the 'numbers. Mr.. Argyle also offered to help the recreation board or anyone else mark out a trail along the upper banks of the Maitland River, an area considered first class for the operation of the machines. '. It was 'agreed the owners should form themselves i to a club and the- recreation board will prepare plans for art organization and meet with the owners again. The date of the next ,meeting. ' . will be advertised.
