The senior choir ofRobertson Memorial Public School entertained
guests` at the ceremonies for the official opening of the Victor
Lauriston Wing on Friday, December 5. The choir, under the
direction of Mrs. R. Shaddick, accompanied by William Cameron,
won praise from D. J. Ashworth, of the Ontario Department of
Education, as did the school band, which also provided

He said two people deserved
s special mention for the amount
of work they had done in paving
the n way for the new wing,
naming former principal John
Kane and Jim Coulter,
superintendent of schools with
the Huron County board, and
-formerly an inspector with the
school board.
Mr. Cochrane said as a father
of four children attending the
school he would like to speak on
behalf of the parents and thank
the people who had made the
addition to the school possible.
He pointed out that facilities,
however, were not the only
consideration for good
education and asked the support
of the parents in showing a vote
of confidence in the staff.
Entertainment was provided
by the school band and the
senior choir under the direction
of William Cameron, music
supervisor and Mrs. R. Shaddick,
director and staff member.

"1 have heard many bands in
high schools and this group
tonight has aquitted themselves
well,” he said.
Mr; Ashworth said he brought
greetings from the Hon. William
G. Davis, minister of education,
and was appearing on behalf of
E. W. Scott, regional director of
education.
He praised the work of the
people involved in setting up the
new wing and praised both
boards for the work that had
gone into planning the project.

were asked to cut the ribbon to
officially open the new wing and
Mr. Hill remarked it had been a
