(Continued from page 1).
Miss Moore spoke to some
lengths n the project and the
way it worked in other
municipalities and answered
questions from the members of
council on the project.
Council felt problems would
be created with administration
of such a program and '" was
informed by Mr. Murphy the
group would do all it could to
assist council in setting up and.
a operating the program.
Miss Moore and Mr. Streich
pointed out the council did not
have to administer- the service
but could have another group do
the work and then purchase the
service from that group and still
be eligible for the full 80 percent
grant.
The group is' supported by all
major service clubs and women's.
groups in town as well as the
Huron County Health Unit; the
medical staff of Goderich
Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital; most of the Goderich
churches; the Children's Aid;,

and the board , .of Alexandra

- Council is to consider the
matter and meet with the group
at a later date.

Members of the board met
Monday evening with the board
.of -directors of the Maitland Golf
and Country Club to discuss the
matter.
Suggestions had been made
that the golf course area would
provide an ideal location at
which to - conduct such a
program.
With regard to ' the
snowmobile menace, the
Recreation Board has called a
Public Meeting to be held at
MacKay Hall, Saturday,
December 13, at 7 p.m. All
owners and operators of snow
vehicles have been invited to
express their opinions on finding
a suitable area within the town
on which to run their machines.
It was felt by board members
that opinions of machine
operators should be solicited to
help . the recreation committee
determine the need for a
location suitable for snowmobile
-use. The success or failure of the
Saturday meeting will have a
large bearing on the action taken
by the Recreation Board on this
matter. '
In both Canada and the U.S.
revocation or suspension of a
person's driving licence does not
always stop him driving. Many
drivers simply ignore removal of
their driving privileges, and go
right on driving. It is not
practicable to follow up all
licence suspensions, -to see if
they are being observed, and
infringements usually come to
light only when drivers are
stopped by " police for
questioning on some other
traffic matter.

Contrary Mary.
The colorful show has
everything children love —
fairies, clowns, gypsies and a big
bad villain, BARNABY.
Since the'N performances in
November, GLT has been
bombarded, with requests to do
the play over again for the

The resignation of Rev. J.
Donald MacDonald is to become

That's right ... You read it
correctly. Rumors have been
confirmed that Santa switched
his diet early this week to steak
and tomato juice to gain
strength for his busy weekend in
Goderich this week.
Santa will arrive at 1 p.m.
Saturday via Elgin Avenue and
South Street to The Square. He
will be led by a massive parade
of some two dozen floats
dedicated to a "Christmas for
Children" theme.
Doug Cruickshank, parade
marshal, has called all parade
entrants to advise hem' of the
details of their position in the
parade. •
At a committee meeting
Monday night, all entrants were
categorized for judging and some
changes were made in prize
classifications to ensure a keen
competition.
Mrs. H. L. Blue, sponsor of
the Santa Claus float, announced
that all arrangements for Santa's
Court to be held Sunday
afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. at
GDCI (via the South Street
entrance) have been completed.
Santa will be enthroned in a
workshop atmosphere created
by students of GDCI.
Disappointment , was
expressed by all parade
committee members when it was
learned that attempts to arrange
for photographs of the children
with Santa had failed. Parents
should be advised that, if they
desire photographs, they should
remember to bring their cameras
and flash bulbs.
It is hoped that some form of
entertainment will be available
to amuse the youngsters while
they wait for their personal visit
with Santa. .
Santa's helpers will be on
hand to distribute favors to the
children after their visit.
During his visit, _Santa will
make special trips to certain
areas of the town: He will stop
briefly on Saturday at the

expected to visit the Maitland

how come?
A
People may reminisce about the "good old days" ... but rarely about the good old products.
Nowadays, modern science and technology has brought some pretty fabulous things our way.
ATdtee, for instance, television. In 1950, a 10" black and white set was a buy at $595. Today, for
that price, we expect a better set that"s twice the size. And we get it in colour too.
How come? Many reasons. Advertising is one of them. Advertising spreads the word to
millions of people. It is the desires of millions that makes mass production practical. And_
•mass production makes low costs possible.
Take a look around you. Part of our good life is the good things in it. And -advertising
helps good things happen.
