Datsun U.S.A. revealed what
has to be one 91-"tl "most ou
'standing bargains in the sports
car field.. The car is called the
240 Z or "Z Car."
The two seater fastback is
priced around $3,500 which puts
the completely new car in tie
price range of the Buick Opel
GT, Fiat 124 Spyderi MG -C and
Triumph TR6. But for the money,
the Datsun proves to be a bar-
gain.

DATSUN CLAIMS the car to
be all new; and for the first
time in a great while "new"
doesn't just mean sheet metal
hanges.
One of the most important
atures which puts the Z Car
a class above the competition
the six -cylinder engine with
ore horsepower than the cars
m Italy and England.

In fact, the Opel and the Fiat
both have four -cylinder engines.
The Z Car, unlike the other
imports, does not seem .small.
The exterior is long and wide
and passengers don't slam el -

THE Z CAR isa total package
that was completely thought
out before production. Seats
are thick and comfortable, steer-
ing wheel position is the right
distance from the chest and all
controls fall readily to, hand.
One of the most delightful as-
pects of the Z Car is the fact that
it doesn't. resemble 'some other
car.- (The Opel GT, for instance,
more than just resembles the
Chevrolet Corvette) .

STANDARD EQUIPMENT on
the Datsun 240Z includes four -
speed transmission, wood steer-
ing wheel, wood shift knob,
steering lock, rubber bumper
inserts front and rear, bumper
guards, tachometer, clock, con-
sole between the bucket seats,
radial tires and full wheel disks,
full instrumentation and more.
Because of the 2,400 pound
weight, the over -head -cam engine

will produce plenty of passing !
power and acceleration. Stand-
ing quarter mile times given by
Datsun were in the 14 second
bracket which would probably
make the 0-60 iiiph time in the
high 8 second bracket.
Another of the unusual aspects
of the Z Car is the fully in-
dependent coil springs on all
four corners. Because of the
necessary suspension towers,
this type of suspension " has
been limited to the front of fast-
back sports cars. Datsun did it'l
anyway, and eventhough the
towers interfere with the
luggage area in the rear, the
interferance in minimal. Luggage
area in the rear, the inter-
ferance in minimal. Luggage
area, by the way, is very good
and--aecess is easy because of a
swing -up tail gate.
The only criticism of the Z
Car is the rear lid spoiler. It
is not integrated into the car's
design'- and has . been „ added
even after the pictures shown
here were taken. It is the Japa-
nese way of making a product
specifically fora foreign market.
The spoiler' is the only deti'actiott
from the car.

Good business sense is
becoming more and more
important in successful farming.
For this , reason, a new
Agricultural Business
Managemerrt course is to be
offered this fall at the Centralia
College of Agricultural
Technology.
The College, a branch of the
Ontario Department of
Agriculture and Food, is
changing the scope of its present
agricultural course to place
greater emphasis on courses such
as an introduction to business,
business accounting and analysis,
financial management, to,tation,
and agricultural policy and
marketing. Personnel
administration, human relations,
and selling ' and - sales
management will also be
featured. More activities are
planned to allow students to
deal directly with farms and
commercial agribusinesses.
Specialists in business law,
accounting and other, aspects of
successful management will give
courses in these subjects. This
approach is preferred to the
`guest -lecture' concept because a
single lecture gives only a surface
impression of the topic involved.
Don McArthur, head of the
Business Management Division at
Centralia, said that in spite of
the change of emphasis, physical
science courses would continue
to be a vital and integral part of
the curriculum. Courses in soils,
. crops, livestock and agricultural
engineering would play a key
part in the Agricultural Business
Course.
