prayers. 1
The birthday hymns Were
sung for Mrs. K. Stokes and Mrs.
George Schneider.

The mission theme on
Thanksgiving. was read by Mrs,
John . Daer. The . topic Of the

given by Mrs, Robert J. Phillips.
Mrs. Kirkconnell thanked all
who Wad taken part and
welcomed new ` members and
visitors.

the financial statement,

The travelling apron received
a penny for each letter in the
words Matthew and Mark. The

meeting with prayer.

Chureh was held last Thursday
at the home of Mrs. Jack
Hallam.

County 'honors were- awarded last Saturday to eight Huron County girls at .an achievement day
held in Auburn to -close the fall homemaking clubs' embroidery project. Standing, from left to

Homemaking Clubs in this
section of Huron County held
their fall achievement day
Saturday in Auburn for the
Needlecraft project. -
Mrs. Larry Wheatley, home
tr economist, assisted by Miss
Karen O'Rourke; assistant in
--Huron-County; wa$4in Charge of
the program. Assisting were Miss
Betty Conway of Middlesex
County and Mrs. Ian McAllister
of Zurich.
Leaders from eadh club were
introduced and presented with a'
badge.

During the morning session,
the girls judged aprons, tote bags
and place mats; planned a, wall
hanging and did a' ,sample of

¢ T The afterno.on's program
began with the 16 club .
presidents leading the. 4-H
pledge. All received the
certificates of achievement and
spoons for their club members.
Exhibits were set up by some
of the clubs and commented on.
Embroidery Today and
Yesterday was commented on
by Debbie Torrance 4 of
Holmesville 3, Marie En -70y of
Auburn 2 and Lynn Sundercock
of Londesboro 2. Embroidery of
other lands was discussed by
Sandra Hunter, Tiger Dunlop 1.
Samples.. of great
grandmother's day, Elaine
Carter, Clinton 4 and Avon Toll,
Morris; embroider your own
design, Barbara Elliott, Clinton
2; traditions in embroidery,
Lorna Cooper, Walton 1, and
color schemes with harmony,
Janet Rodges of Holmesville 2.
Demonstrations were also
very informative and
entertaining.
How to make a wall hanging
was done by Karen Shepherd
and Mary Lou Vincent of
Londesboro 1; "design from idea
to fabric by Sharon Potter,
Laurelanne Bond, Joan Miller
and Marie Betties of Holmesville
1; creating with embroidery was
a skit put on by all members of
Tiger Dunlop 2.
All members of Auburn 1 told
how toget ready __to_ embroider
} and. Clinton 3 demonstrated
color schemes in embroidery.
Goderich girls demonstrated
how to make a wall hanging with
Kathy Mcllwain and Rhea
Hamilton demonstrating. The
neW look in embroidery was the
topic of the skit given by
Marilyn Aiken, Nancy Colson,
Mary Lynn Forbes and Heather
McAdam of Clinton 1 club.
The highlight of the
afternoon's program was the
presentation of Provincial
honours and pins to Sheron
Collins, Auburn; Brenda
Archambault, RR 1, Auburn;
Dorothy Collins, RR 3, Clinton;
Helen Brindley, RR 6, Goderich
and Sandra McNichol, RR 2,
Blyth.
County honours went to
Barbara Elliott, Clinton; Connie
Gibbings, RR 1, Clinton; Sandra
Good, RR 1, Londesboro;
Donna Bromley, 'Londesboro;
Karen Taylor, RR 4, Goderich;
Dorothy Nicholson, RR 2,
Blyth; Avon Toll, RR 3, Blyth
and Clara Wasson, RR 2, Walton.
a scrambled word contest and
this was won by Nancy Swan. A
kitchen contest waswon by Mrs.
G. Whitley. •

An address of congratulations
was read by Mrs. William Dobie
and gifts were drawn in on a
little wagon by Robert'''.

Miss Dobie thanked her
neighbours and friends for the
lovely gifts. Lunch was served.

Little Miss Lorie Cartwright
came home Sunday after being a
