earth in `grace'. He will come
again in `glory'. Both'' comings —
one which is history and the
other which is prophecy -- are
foretold in the Scriptures. Both
advents are epitomized in Heb.
• 9:8. When Jesus comes back
again to reward His servants and
to judge the quick and the dead',
His coming will be personal
(John 14;3; Acts 1:14). His
comjrg will , be unexpected
(Matt. 25:1-13). It will be
sudden (Matt. 24:27). It will be
visible (Rev. 1:7-8). And it will
be glorious (Mark 8:38).
The interpretation of our
Lord's return has a wide variety.
Some abuse the teaching. Others
neglect the doctrine. It is ever
tragic when some people strive
O over the time, the place and the
order of this world-shaking event
to come. Christ's return is not to
be equated with the coming of
the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the
New Birth; some calamity, the
e

death of the believer or the
telling to all the world around
what a dear Saviour we have
found. Our main concern is to
magnify the doctrine.•' in its
importance, its purpose and its
challenge.:
1
THE IMPORTANCE OF
THE TEACHING
The prominence of our Lord's
return in the Book of books lifts
it°high. All except four of the
New Testament books mention
the fact. Within the 216 chapters
in the New Testament, 318
verses tell of it. 'He's coming
back again is mentioned eight
times as oft .0s that of His first
coming. (Cruden's
Concordance). It is closely knit
with the basic doctrines of the
Christian faith; the Deity of
Christ , (Matt. 26:63-64); the
Atonement (Heb. 9:13-28);
godliness (1Thess. 3:12-13); the
resurrection (1 Cor. 15:23); the
final judgement (11 Tim. 4:1);
rewards (11 Tim. 4: 7-8; 1Pet.
5:4) Apostolic teachings echo it.
It was the.. secret of endurance
for the persecuted disciples. It
was the dynamic of the early
Church. The belief is voiced in
the Sacraments, the prayers and
the creeds of the Church.. The
Lord's Supper, • the Lord's
Prayer, the Burial Service
anticipate the blessed fact and
trumpet the expectation of the
Great Hope. Hymn writers and
theologians add their testimony -
also.

THE CHALLENGE OF
THE PROMISE
The christian believer• and
follower of .Christ finds. that
challenge in terms of motivity;_
ministry, maturity. The
non -believer ought to find it in
terms of warning (2 Thess.
1:7-8). A certain • young man,
husband -to -be, and the other
will meet at the Supreme Court
of Justice. (Matt. 13: 24-30) The
Sovereign Saviour will come for
His own (1 Thess. 4: 16-18). He
who is our Saviour now will be
our Judge, and man will be
judged and rewarded (Rev.
22:12). In the process, now and
Chen, natural evolution is a
broken hinge. The redemptive
• program alone will be completed
when the last enemy is crushed
under the feet of the Redeemer
and God is all in all. Creation,
redemption and history will have
an appropriate climax. Every
wrong will be righted, every false
way will be exposed, every good
will be .rewardetl, every evil will
be condemned, every• doubt and
difficulty will be cleared.

The sixth meeting of the
▪ Board of AdVisors of St. Peter's
Parish. Council was held on
Thursday evening, November 13,
in the staff room of St. Mary's
School.
The meeting opened with
prayer by Joseph Morrissey,
• followed by his opening remarks
and reading of the minutes of
r— he last , jmeeting ,by Mrs.
Stimson.
Joseph Morrissey submitted
his resignation as chairman and a
member of the • Board of
Advisors. He stated he. felt with
all his other obligations,
including the fact also that he
was attending university classes
in•London each week, he should
in • all fairness resign. His
resignation was received and
accepted with sincere regret by
all members, as he had worked
very hard in getting the council
set up and organized.
John Buchanan was elected
chairman by a unanimous vote.
Letters were presented and
read by Mrs. MacLaren from the
4 various parishes contacted
regarding their Constitutions and
Bylaws. Three copies of Bylaws
and Constitutions were received,
with the balance of those
contacted being in the same
position as we are in preparing
• and setting up their own. The
ones received were to be passed
among -the- membm
=-fortheir
perusual and study.
Mrs. Eileen Palmer was
nominated and accepted as
chairman and co-ordinator of
the recreational. committee, to
replace"Brian Markson, who has
resigned.
A motion was made and
seconded that letters be written
by the corresponding secretary
to the Catholic Women's League,
Knights of Columbus, Cemetery
Board and Catholic Youth
societies, requesting that they
appoint a delegate to serve as
official representative to the
Christian Action Committee of
the council. The function of this
representative would be to act as
• a liaison between their group
and the Parish Council, when
necessary.
Since the last meeting- it was
reported by Mrs. Muriel Murphy,
co-ordinator ° of to Spiritual
Committee. that Mr. H.
Ak Hendriks of RR 3, Goderich,
had been hired • as organist. It
Was also discussed and resolved
e
that a Folk Mass be requested
oc .asionally on Sundays, to be
announced in advance in the
Sunday bulletin.
Mrs. Moira Evans read a
report of finances.
A letter was received and read
by Mrs. Mary MacLaren from
Dr. Evans, of the Huron County
Health Unit regarding -a
Homemaker's Service, and a
motion made and passed that
she be instructed to have the
enclosed resolution signed and
.returned to Dr. Evans'in favor of
the ,setting up of such a
Homemaker's Service in the
Town of Goderich. It was
explained that if this service
should be implemented,- that 80
percent of the cost would be
reimbursed by the Provincial
Government and with only 20
percent borne •by the
Municipality. It was felt this
service was needed in Goderich.
Peter McCauley, co-ordinator
of the Temporal Committee, was
not present. However, it was
stated that the matter of new
railings outside the church be
tabled for the present. Regarding
redecoration of the church, as
this was more or less a
mammoth project, it was
understood estimates were being
obtained and this would •be dealt
with later. '
• Helmut Kro_hmer reported„ as"
co-ordinator of
the . Youth
Group. There was very good
attendancce at their meetings and
on -.November 30 there' is to be a
"sit in" held at Wingham, taking
in Kingsbridge, Goderich and
Clinton youth organizations. It
was reported by Pat Melady it
was the intention to possibly
arrange transportation to this by
bus.
It was also decided that
individual meetings of the
different groups be arranged by
the co-ordinators before the
next Advisory Board meeting.
It was also brought before the
