The annual Rotary B Il was held at the Harbourlite Inn on Friday

Those who attended the annual Rotary Ball last Friday found it to be one of the best yet. The hall
of. the Harbou'hlite Inn was well decorated for the event and there was plenty of room for dancing.

TOM PARK 93 YEARS
YOUNG
pioneer resident of
Torn, _ . Park
his 93rd birthday on
Friday November 14.
Many friends and neighbours
called throughout the day with
many good wishes and ,gifts.
Endowed with a good sense of
'humor, he remains fairly active
and uses glasses only for reading
and television. He is an avid
hockey follower with of course
Toronto ,being his favorite team.
Mr. Park is the last surviving
memlxr of the family of the late
John Park and Mary West.
SURPRISE PARTY
A surprise party was held or,
Saturday evening at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Foran in
honor of Miss Carol Culbert and
Allister Nivins who are to be
married later this month. A large
number of friends attended and
presented them with a beautiful
combination table and Tamp.
MRS. BILL PARK
Ivers gave a reading "How To
Preserve A Husband."
The address was read by Mrs. .
K. K. Dawson, the gifts were
—then-brought—to Carol ky- Gheryy l �-
Jardine and Annette Hodges.
Carol expressed _ her
appreciation to everyone and to
those who helped in any way to
arrange her shower.
Cake and ice cream were
served at the close.

On Saturday evening about 3-k
friends and neighbours of Mr.
and Mrs. T. C. Anderson
gathered at the home of Mr. Bill
Caesar for an evening, of
progressive euchre. Mr. and Mrs.
Anderson recently moved to
Goderich from their farm here.
Mr. Bill Wiggins read an address
of best wishes and Bill Caesar
presented them with -a beautiful
pole lamp. Tom made a fitting
reply on behalf of himself and
Louise.
SHOWER HELD
Miss Carol Culbert, bride -elect
of this month was honored at a
community shower held on
'Nei -tray Novembet' `11 lin
Dungannon United Church.
The Church basement was
prettily decorated in pink and
white streamers and pink
carnations.

Carol was being seated under a
small white umbrella. Miss
Bonnie Culbert and Miss, Cindy
Jardine assisted Carol in opening
her gifts while Doreen McNeil
read the accompanying cards.
Miss Arlene Culbert displayed
the many lovely gifts.
Bernice Glenn presided for
the. program which opened with
Martha Eedy at the piano. Peggy
Young played two selections on
the accordion, and Mrs. Lorne
The Helping Hands met at the
home of their member, Mrs.
Annie Bere. Mrs. J. H. Johnstone
was in charge of the meeting.
The various members took their
'part in the devotion. J. H.
Johnstone closed with prayer.
During the business the
decision was made to send a
Christmas box to England. Mrs.
E. Baechler was the winner at
.dominos. Mr. D. Elliott and Mrs.
Bere provided lunch.

Goderich hospital, ` being
admitted on Saturday.
Mrs. J. s,M. Reed returned
home from Goderich hospital on
Wednesday having spent 6 weeks
there.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Irvin and.
family. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Irvin
all of Ashfield and Mr. and Mrs.
Percy Blundell of Goderich.
Mr. Harold Blake. Mr. and

were guests on Saturday evening

Presbyterian Church waa held in
the Church Parlour on,' Monday
evening.' The prayer of

last meeting, and the treasurer's

The president conducted the

which was an outstandingly
successful venture.

Salter, and memo rs of her
group then took charge of the
Meeting. The ,hymn, "Jesus Calls
Us O'er The Tumult" was,
sung, and the Scripture Reading

responsively led by Betty
MacKenzie. The :offering was
received by, Helen Sager and

The members of . the Beta
Sigma Phi 3171 met November 4
at the home of Mrs. Susan
Gower. There were 12 regular
:nembers answering the roll call.
This was a "Model Meeting
to show the prospective
members how a sorority meeting
is conducted. The executive and
each of the committee chairmen
gave a small report concerning
their duties. ,
The "Pledge Dinner" was

they would like to have this
year's ritual at the Tiger Dunlop
Inn on November 25 providing
this date would be convenient to
the caterer.
After the meeting there was a
most interesting program and
displays of pottery by Ann
Fairservice of the ' Country
Studio, Blyth.
The members repeated the
closing ritual and a delicious
lunch wis enjoyed by everyone.
Hazel McCreath and dedicated.
Glenda Salter presented a
meditation based on the word
"Abiding" which stressed God's
abiding lova which istwith all of
us at all time. .
A prayer was offered by
Georgia Schaefer. A
thought-provoking message was
given by Edna Pollock on the
theme "Love." She pointed out
that love is the only thing that
produces perfection, and that we
must be ready to perform tasks
which may not be to our liking,
but which must be done if we
are to truly show our love for
Christ. She explained a world
wide project named "The°Least
Coin." Christian women of all
continents set aside one penny
per month and this money is
sent to the World, Council of
Churches' where it is dispersed
for ministries and mercy -to all
races of people.
Agnes Cutt - thanked the
speaker for her interesting and
informative message. The hymn
"Take My Life And Let It Be" was
sung, and the president closed
the meeting with prayer. Lunch
was served by members of the
group.

We closed down on Sunday night and in three days the decorators from D. A. Kay and Son of Clinton
took over and completely redecorated our p're'mises from the front right through to the kitchen. I Ve
haven't remodelled we just gave the place a fresh coat of paint and wallpaper and a lot of spit and polish.
If you like pleasant surroundings that you know are as clean as they possibly can be then you will enjoy
joining. us now and in the future for coffee, a snack or a meal. The place won't look like the above -
picture when you come in, we are just showing you this to illustrate the boys hard at work redecorating..
