A son of Robert Howard and General Hospital School of Beniiniller ' and " Mrs. Robert Annie Sinnett, he was born ,Nursing in 1946 and worked (Mildred) Scott, Goderich; two , September 8, 1912 in Ashfield Township where he resided until. 1965. A farmer, Mr. Howard never married. During the war years, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross in service with the RCAF. He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church,. Kingsbridge, and of the Knights of Colutnbus. He survived by two brothers, Joh and Robert Howard, both of Ashfield. " Rev. Dr. H. Illlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllltlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllltllllllllllllllllllllllllll' Kinsmen endorse service Members of Goderich Kinsmen Club have endorsed the formation of a Homemakers Service in the town of Goderiche A report considered at the last regular meeting showed that the proposed plan was not intended as a free babysitting service for mothers wanting to work, but rather a necessary aid to families where the mother is ill, either at home or in hospital, and without funds to hire .help to keep the . house running smoothly. Members learned that requirements would be laid out to determine the . family's eligibility. The 'cost _to the individual would be pro -rated to the family's income although_in the majority of cases, Kinsmen learned, the service would be free. with the Clinton Club was held hi Clinton Tuesday . evening. Those installed were Don Mallough. George White, Bob McDougall, Harry Hoake and Fred Jewell. Proceeds from the Series Pool were 5145.50. World MRS. EVANGELINE (EVA) LASSALINE Mrs. Evangeline (Eva) Lassaline, 180 Eldon Street, Goderich, died at her home Friday, November 14 after an illness of one year. She was 47 years old. A daughter of George Billard and Winnifred Clarke, Newfoundland, she was born, August 12, 1922. Other survivors include one sister, - Mrs. William (Mary) Moulton, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia; five brothers, George, Samuel and Charles, all of Glace Bay; Matthew of Mulgrave, N.S.; and Gabriel, London. Funeral service was from St. P.eter's Church Monday, November 17 with Rev. R. Moynahan officiating. Interment -Was in St. Peter's Cemetery, Colborne Township. Pallbearers were Harold Hibbert, Elmer Jenkins, Ted Webb, Walter Westbrooke, Charlie Orr and ' Kip White. Flowerbearer was Ken Sowerby. McCallum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Dickson, 80, .n • A son of Peter McLachlan and Ruth Hoggarth, he was born in, Tuckersmith Township, He received his primary education at the Red Tavern School and attended secondary s hoof . at Seaforth and Goderieh. Mr. McLachlan . taught elementary school in the Goderich area end late moved to Toronto to tech in secondary schools. He was an active member of Emmanuel United Church. Survivors include his wife, the former Grace Wise of Goderich; two nieces, Mrs. Russell Mulligan and Mrs. Grace Found; 'and a nephew, Lloyd Allen of Brantford. He was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. Ivy Allen. MICHAEL WILLIAM CORRAN Gordon Vanstone, 138 Hincks St., Goderich, died Saturday, November 15 at his residence. He was 65 years old. Born in Colborne Township, he has been a resident of Goderich since 1939.. He was employed at Sifto Salt Company November 17 with Rev. Leonard Warr officiating. Interment was in Colborne Cemetery. Pallbearers- ' were John McGraw, Elmer Fisher., Harold Duckworth, Doug SRwerby, Bert McCabe and Ken Williams. • MRS. EVELYN ZIEGLER Mrs. Evelyn Ziegler, 131 Wilson Street, died Saturday, November 15 at Alexandra Hospital. The widow of Rev. Karl Ziegler who died in 1950. She was 72 years old: Born August 19 in Colborne Township, she was a daughter of Eckert Youngblet and Mary Miller. She has resided in Goderich for the past 40 years. Survivors include one step sister, Mrs. George (Elizabeth) James, Goderich. Funeral service was held at the McCallum Funeral Home- Tuesday, November 18 at 1 p.m. Captain R. Hewlett and Rev. A. Mayberry officiated. The late Mrs. Ziegler was then transferred to Zion Lutheran Church, 'Phillipsburg, Ontario, for further service at. 4 o'clock. Rev. Andrew Blackwell and Rev. Baby Michael William Curran, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Wm. Corran (nee Anna Van Ninhuys) 219 Picton St. E., Goderich, died November 14 in Alexandra Hosptial. Surviving besides his parents are three brothers, Anthony Victor, James Richard and Bradley John and his native of Goderich, died reeentiy at his home in Shafer Heights. The deceased received, hit; undergraduate and nnedical training at the University of Toronto and was graduated in 1916. His entire class was sent to England to serve in World War 1, Before retiring 16 years ago, he " had established the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Cleveland Clinic and served as head of that department for 32 years. .. He also established the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation when he joined the clinic. In June he was made an honorary, fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scotland, one of the few .Americans to be so honored. Cleveland Clinic named a seminar room in his honor in recognition of his work as "a surgeon, teacher. • and humanitarian." His portrait hangs on the wall there. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Saviour, Cleveland Heights. He is survived by his wife, Connie. The town welfare officer,— Sherman Blake, would be the chief administrator acting on advice from welfare officers, children's aid and family doctors. Fyighty percent of the net cost is reclaimed by the municipality . from the provincial treasury. Kinsmen and other service clubs in Goderich have been asked to assist in this proiect. Kinsmen and Kinettes will combine their efforts to put a float ,in this year's Santa Claus parade in Goderich.
