The Goderich Collegiate Senior Vikings Football Team finished first in the Huron -Perth Conference regular schedule with a perfect six -win -no -loss record. The Vikings ensured their unblemished record by blanking the Seaforth Golden Bears in the final game of the schedule 41-0. The game was played last Wednesday in Seaforth. Coach Wayne . Horner now takes his powerful Vikings into the semi-final round of the playoffs here today (Thursday) against the highly rated Stratford Central team. Stratford finished with a 5-1 won -lost record which was identicalto the Wingham Mustangs mark. Wingham was awarded second place on the basis of the flip of a `coin, and will meet Listowel in the other semi-final The winners of .the two semi-final games will meet for the league championship next Thursday, November 13. If the Vikings defeat Stratford, the final game will be played here — because of the Vikings' first Want Ads bring results GDCI girls Compete in volleyball tournament The G.D.C.I. Senior' girls volleyball team competed recently in Huron -Perth Conference competition in a tournament held at Stratford Northwestern Secondary School. The girls emerged with three victories and one loss, a record good enough for second place in their division: They defeated Stratford Northwestern, Milverton and St. Mary's, but lost to Stratford Central • who emerged as Perth-. champions. Starting lineup for Goderich was Carol Mc'Evven, Gail Fisher, Susie McLeod, Peggy Stoddart, Clara Bedard and Carol Willis. Coach of the team was Jane Melitzer., place finish in the regular schedule. The_ Vikings and Stratford Central did not meet during the regular schedule' so Stratford is somewhat of an unknown quantity for the Vikings. Coach Horner's scouting reports show that Stratford possesses a strong passing attack built around an excellent quarterback. They are reported to be a big, fast team. However, Stratford will have their hands full with the Vikings who combine the highest scoring offence in the league with the toughest defence. • • Iri analysing his own team's weaknesses, which haven't been very apparent to any of the other teams over the regular schedule, Horner sees the pass defence as a question mark and points out his offensive line is young and comparatively small. The Vikings are one of the smallest teams in the league and they can be hurt on a wet day. They do have some injuries to contend with. The game plan against Stratford centres on ball control and an aggressive defence. The hoped-for result is to force Stratford into making mistakes while limiting their own errors. McLellan's second touchdown came on a 45 yard ramble after he recovered a Stratford fumble in the fourth quarter. The Senior Vikings' 41-0 whitewash job on Seaforth started slowly, with Tom "the Bomb" Crawford's one yard • quarterback sneak resulting in the only scoring in the first quarter. - As the game wore on, the Vikings gained momentum, and it was only a matter of "how much." - Wednesday in Ron Brown went eight yards off tackle for a second quarter T.D.
