What the "Stay Dry Committee" were actually saying then, was, that Joe, is an irresponsible ' moron, and therefore should be deprived of the right to enjoy a pint at his price, while the rich could imbibe at theirs. Of course, we have all heard the old cry, about the evils of alcohol, however, it seems very strange indeed, that some of the finest, kindest, and most charitable people, I have ever met,"take a drink," plus the factor- that millions of these people are far more Christian in their general outlook on life, than many who profess to be. Leaving the subject of a pint or two for a moment, let us ask ourselves, where then are ' the "Anti Pope -Committees I "the Anti Communist," seeing as how it is considered the Communist is Godless! What about the blown up pictureof Mao, the Chinese Communis leader in some church -youth meeting places. Where are the Anti Jean de Liphowski groups, the French secretary for foreign affairs, who recently came from France to ferment more trouble in Quebec, and who state' quite openly, that "Quebec won't fight alone!" To the former members of this so-called, "stay -dry committee," who see all the terrible evil in a pint of beer and who worked so zealously against a "drink for Joe," perhaps, your many talents could be directed to the real evils of this World, only an infinitesimal portion, of which; are aforementioned, and • ...MISDIRECTED TALENTS Somewhere tri the neighbourhood of two years ago, the town of Goderich held a vote as to whether or not, beer parlours, or, 'a beer parlour' should be allowed to open, in order to give the ordinary working Joe, a pint of refreshment, at a price he could afford. Much wailing and beating of gums against this move, was conducted by a certain "Stay dry Committee," who were, shall we say, successful, and, . up to a point, the town, "on the surface," stayed dry. In 'other words, they forced Joe to pay through the nose, for his brew, ASHFIELD MRS. E. HOWES.
